Best scale for MG?

Trying to find a good scale that can read Miligrams. I see plenty on ebay for around $100. Price doesn't effect me.. So, Does anyone have scales to recommend? Trying to find one for capping "vitamins "

When buying a scale you should always pick one that has a resolution that is one place better than what you want to weight. A milligram is .001, so you should look for a scale that has a .0001 resolution.

A cheap scale is not going to accurately weigh down to a milligram. Price will vary a lot. Around 500 is probably the lowest price you will find, for a scale capable of this resolution.

You will have to spend hundreds to get a really accurate MG scale with a plastic box protecting the pan. If you need something that is plus or minus .002 then just buy a tanita.

I was looking at that earlier today. looks like a good buy. ill get one to test out to see if t fits my needs.

I have had it about 8 months an no problems yet when I gt it I had a desk fan on an when it past the scale it would register weight that doesnt mean much but I took it as a sign of its sensitivity

I'd rather have two or more cheap ones instead of one good / expensive one. Having two and using them both each time will save you from silly errors such as forgetting to zero properly etc etc

Excellent idea.
Or even to check against each other. think I’ll order a second one now

This is completely backwards thinking when it comes to scales. Two cheap scales that both have a significant amount of drift, but by different amounts will give you more issues than 1 scale that is high quality. All scales have drift, but a quality one wi exhibit much less drift. So when weighing out 25mgs, by the time your done you may end up at 30 or more. Using a second scale of the same quality will not prevent this.

With scales it is always best to spend more than to cheap out. Used scales can be a great way to get a good scale for a good price. Calibration weights are also important, you want to calibrate the scale with a weight close to what you're weighing. If your weighing out 25mgs you would want to calibrate with a weight as close as you can get to the weight. A good calibration weight will cost much more than the scales posted. If you're not to concerned about being exact, and what you weigh is +-3 milligrams the sces should be ok.

I'm lucky enough to have two expensive balances and multiple cheap ones. I'm not suggesting using two cheap balances will be more accurate than an expensive one that is correctly set up and used.

IMHO for 99% of users the cheaper ones are fine. There are whole sites dedicated to analytical balance reviews for those who are really into it.

The expensive ones I have are a pain to clean, a hassle to set up perfectly flat, warm up etc. They're also rather large and hard to hide from partners, friends and parents.

In the real world people make human errors using balances. The fancier the scale the easier it is to make silly mistakes. With two scales you will most probably spot your mistakes with a single one you may not.

This is all very true, but my use for a scale mainly was reloading. So I wanted to make sure everything was as good as I could afford. I had a sartorius GD503. I use a cheap scale for weighing raws to make oils, but that doesn't require a great deal of accuracy. If I was weighing out milligrams, I would definitely be using a higher end scale.

sadly the ammo reloading excuse for scales doesn't work here in the UK :-)

The lowest I'm packing is 10mg for some Cialis and some others at a little higher mg so even if this scale is slightly off it won't bother me.

I've been looking for a tumbler also to generate a thorough mixing. I came across this but not sure since I'm a noob at the raw game. IMG_20190414_143920.jpg . Anyone use something similar? Or what would you recommend

Built mine myself. The motor is a 60rpm 110 volt motor I found on eBay for $10. I used popsicle sticks to make the compounds tumble instead of just slide in the drum as it turned.
