Best weight gainer powder?

yeah i don't really get that question. i feel overtrained so need a really good weight gainer? listen to bob, take some time off.

There is a saying: "There is no such thing as over-training, just under-eating."

I believe in that. Anytime I lay off, I just come back weaker and out of sync in my lifts.

Injury is another thing.

That saying has some merit in some cases, like people who bitch about how they can't get over 160lbs. However, there is definitely such a thing as overtraining.

It takes 72hrs for a muscle to recover from a workout then the growth process starts. so if your hitting a muscle group to often it doen't have a chance to grow( to full potential ). I train muscle groups once a week but i train to failure.
If I have a trouble area I'll do a light set mid week just to get some blood flow in there.

as far as MPR's I like lean body by Labrada. but I'll also add some raw oatmeal and olive oil in it for extra carbs and fat.

That's not true. The recovery period of various muscle groups varies. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the recovery period is the time that it takes to heal, also known as grow. It's not that it recovers and then grows. It grows whilst it recovers.

Where did you get the information that says it takes 72 hours to recover and that the growth process starts at hour 73?

i was waiting for someone to jump on that

I've read it several places. Mike Mentzers book heavy duty comes to mind. He was a big believer in lots of rest.

Mike Menzter had some very...how shall I say this...interesting ideas. Very few of which were accurate.

Put your reading glasses on, slapdick! I got to it an hour before Bob did. :D

I agree, Bob. Mentzer was one messed up theoried individual.

wow, gang rape. sorry. whatever the exact amout of hours is the point I was trying to make is you have to have proper rest before you go bangin the muscle group again. 72hrs ( 3 days ) is not that much time,Thats what leads to overtraining. Hey I agree with alot (not all) of his training ideas and have put alot of them in my workout. Dorian Yates, Casey Viator and many more bodybuilders used his High Intensity Training.

72 is a lot of time, and for a lot people will be TOO much time. Hitting a muscle every 48-72 hours (about 2-3x/wk) is going to give the majority of people the best results. Certain things have to be accounted for when using that much frequency, but once thats accomodated for, they are off and growing!

IMO, 1x/wk training is the sloooooow way to results.

There's no law here.
so there's only 1 way to train. you mean you train the same body parts every 2-3 days . if that works for you than great go for it . But there are plenty of people who would say your wrong. that you're training is getting in the way of your growing. That doesn't make them right either. I was talking training for BB not football or other endurance sports.
you told a guy earlier that he was over training and take a day off. I would tell him take 2 or 3 days off IF needed. I've done all the 3 on 1 off and 4/1 . I train M-W-F for about an hour not counting cardio but I train VERY hard. and that works very well for me, plus I have a life out side of the gym.

Im talking for BBing, not for sports or strength. I really dont want to get into a pissing match for you. Some people can grow on 1x/wk training (per bodypart). Most people make very little or no progress at all on those programs. Look at anyone in your gym who trains that way. 90% will look exactly the same this time next year, and this time 5 years from now, and 10 years, and so on. They read the programs in the magazines that the pros supposedly use and make zero progress. Its not about how hard you train (what people mistakenly call 'intensity') or making yourself as tender as a filet mignon from the soreness.

Science shows that you can train a muscle within 48 hours of working out. Doing this will produce much better results. 3x/wk might be too much for some. I like 3x/wk when bulking (Im actually at about 3-4x right now for dieting). Others, like Hogg or in AnimalMass's DFHT program prefer 2x/wk.

When someone trains once per week, they are already in the deconditioning phase of the recovery/growth process. They are taking 1 step forward and 1 step back. Or 5 steps forward and 4 back. By training with a greater frequency, you take 5 steps forward, and maybe 1 back.

As for the "take a day off" statement from earlier, the guy does need to take at least a day off. Id like to know when the last time was that he stayed out of the gym completely for a week. It wouldnt surprise me if its been months and months on end. A week, or even two, out of the gym would do his body wonders. Plus, when he returns he'll be back on the road to progress.

You're right. There is no "one way", however, there is the scientific way and volume upon volume of scientific text will point to the dual factor method of training. 2 or more times per week.
