BigBaldBeardGuy left meso!?!?!

In other words, If you've got a bad opinion about naps, the biggest drop shipper of anabolics in America, you can't post those opinions here on meso?

What the fuck is that? Really?
Yup Naps got called out many times and good people get banned for spam??? Wow. While I have no dislike for Millard as this is his board and his rules, but his statements about all the bans don't really make sense. The kerfuffle about an article about manspreading brought about more bans as well.

Not at all. As always, everyone is free to say whatever they want about sources. All opinions are permitted. No opinions or experiences are deleted. To suggest otherwise is utterly false.

But you do have to respect the rules of the forum and refrain from personal attacks against the administrators for doing nothing more than enforcing the well-established guidelines.

If you think I'm the enemy, I'm not sure why you would want to participate in this forum and you are not particularly welcome.

On the other hand, if you want to further our harm reduction objectives, then work with me to make this a better website/forum.

I didn't know who were before.
Obviously I do now. Thank you for your reply.

I'm not saying you're the enemy, or that MESO isn't very valuable resource for me personally or anyone else who chooses to participate here, because it certainly is.

I'm not looking to start a revolt, or sow any discord either.

I'm just confused on why a bunch of members got banned. Nobody seems to be clear on exactly what rules they violated and how.
Anybody else who's not looking to get banned but also participates heavily in source threads, vetting and harm reduction would want to know why to avoid getting banned themselves.

So I was asking about what happened.

Perhaps you could clarify it?

I read elsewhere that people started getting banned over political threads

In our zeal to get rid of Naps some of us broke one or more rules. Some of us did that repeatedly.

I have done it in the past myself.

I've got to askmwhere that "elsewhere" was? I've seen it myself

I've seen other places ban members who didn't break any of the forum rules whatsoever, but got banned because thier opinions were different from the administrators.
And in political debates they had embarrassed the liberal moderators. So despite the fact no rules had been violated, members were banned for telling truthes the moderators didn't want to hear.

I seen that myself.

But here on meso, we've pretty well always been free to say what we want without fear of banning or censorship as long as we don't violate forum rules.

Which is the reason I was enquiring as to which rules they violated. So we can all pay heed to avoid doing the same.

Please clarify.

I'm no fan of naps, and have openly spoken my opinion in the past. I always felt that meso was fair and impartial.

Did they post links, spam or illegal content?

Certainly it was more than just having an unpopular opinion of naps.?

I am careful not to post any links or advertisements though.

Most of the banned members have moved to ugbb. They have a thread there, I'm certain they'd answer any questions they could.

So is BigBaldBeardGuy's ban indeed permanent? I don't know much about why he was banned (other than what I have read here), but I did find his posts to be very useful.

I guess I was just asking whether a temporary ban might get the point across. I do not know his infraction history or whether you already tried that. I do know I have been the recipient of a temporary ban before on another forum, and, while I thought the rule was stupid (and still do), and I do not even think my post violated the rule as it is stated, I have steered very clear of potentially violating that rule ever since so that I can continue to participate there.

I know it's your board, and not ours, but I think there are probably a lot of us who would like to see him return.

Just my two cents, for whatever that is worth (2 cents?).

Tell me @MindlessWork , what exactly doesn't make sense to you?

The manspreading kerfuffle? It had more to with getting rid of racist and misogynistic piece of shits from the forum.

In case you didn't know, these kind of personal attacks will be you banned too. Good luck finding a forum that will tolerate these kind of personal attacks on administrators and moderators.

PS - I have no relationship with BBBG, do not know him in real life, and have had no interaction with him other than reading his posts here (and maybe some PMs here, I do not recall).

Certainly it was more than just having an unpopular opinion of naps.?
Having an unpopular or popular opinion on naps had nothing to do with it. The repeated violation of multiple rules, intentional violation of rules, blatant disregard for the rules, and/or mocking of the rules along with personal attacks, both public and private, had everything to do with it.

Okay, I see your point and whoever created those accounts to post on that blog is in the wrong. Thanks for your clarification on that.

Sorry if I sounded I was attacking you and I didn't mean to sound like that. My apologies.

I didn't see the exchange on that blog entry as the comments were gone at the time I looked to see what was going on as there was some chatter about it. Thanks for clearing that up @Millard.

Anyone who reads the naps threads will see what may actually be 1000s of negative comments, insults, reviews. These have not been deleted. And no one has been banned for telling "truths".

Similarly, anyone who reads the politics subforums will see the overwhelming majority of posts tend to slant right with the notable exception of @Michael Scally MD 's Trump thread. These posts have not been deleted. And no one has been banned for "differences of opinion" or telling political "truths".

The reason people are banned is for violation of the rules.

The so-called political bans were mostly due to refusal to respect my explicit prohibition on the advocating, promotion, or encouragement of political violence e.g. violence against politicians, violent overthrow of the government, etc. Some bans were due to the repeated, or obscene personal attacks on forum moderator/administrators.

The recent bans were mostly due to refusal to respect the rules with repeated, blatant, and/or intentional violations. In some instances, they were due to repeated and/or obscene personal attacks on forum moderators/administrators.
