Really @BBC3? 15 woman over 30+ years.Might I add that back when Eddie Murphy and others had to RESORT TO FILTH and crap to get a laugh. BILL COSBY was the single only one of them that could carry a crowd with nothing but positive family type comedy...!
That fucking cunt should be taken out back and beaten half to death to even DARE.
"It’s even worse because Bill Cosby has the fuckin’ smuggest old black man public persona that I hate. He gets on TV, "Pull your pants up black people, I was on TV in the '80s! I can talk down to you because I had a successful sitcom!" Yeah, but you rape women, Bill Cosby, so turn the crazy down a couple notches. "I don't curse on stage!" But yeah you're a rapist, so… I'd take you saying lots of "motherfuckers" on Bill Cosby himself if you weren't a rapist."

The guy who revived the rape allegations -- comedian Hannibal Burgess -- put Cosby's "family values" comedy in perspective with the Eddie Murphy's cursing:

The problem with prosecuting rape cases is that it IS only a "he said, she said" crime in most cases. What type of evidence would you want to see? A black eye? A broken nose? Teeth marks on a penis?
I don't see the financial incentive for the women who went public with the exception of the one that received the financial settlement. The statute of limitations has passed. There is nothing in for them other than the publicity of letting the world know you were raped. They will forever be known to the world as the "women who accused Bill Cosby of rape".
And in today's society, there is arguably more stigma associated with being a rape accuser than an accused rapist especially when the accused is a successful and influential man.
Cosby's allegations have been around for decades and the public has generally dismissed them.
@BBC3 @CensoredBoardsSuck The Bill Cosby case isn't exactly like Clarence Thomas case where a public eagerly "gobbles" up allegations against an "uppity" black man. Cosby's allegations have been around for decades and the public has generally dismissed them.
I like our criminal justice system with its preponderance of the evidence and beyond a reasonable doubt standards as much as the next person. I certainly don't think Cosby should be legally convicted and deprived of his liberties by the government based on accusations alone.
I think a public discussion (and judgments by NBC, Netflix, etc that may affect his career) about the 15 allegation (at least six of which have gone public) is more than appropriate.

Come on fellas, back in the day he settled out of court for an undisclosed amount of money, to not admit any guilt. That's lawyer talk for I will pay for my crime and not get in trouble for what I did. Money seems to cure everything in our culture. Now, that being said, a man should be presumed innocent before being convicted of a crime. But it sure isn't looking good for old Bill.
Ok here comes the hate....and believe me I love Bill Cosby's comedy! About 10 yrs ago a Canadian woman accused him of sexual assault while she was in the states. As part of her claim she said that she had a taped phone call where he admitted to the act. The judge would not allow it into evidence. In Canada it would be allowed as you only need one parties consent to admit (as long as there is only 2 ppl on the tape). In the state she tried to charge him in, it is illegal to tape without both BOTH parties consent so it was disallowed.
Now I don't know if he did it, and honestly don't even care. But really judge??? dismiss a tape recording of such significance?
Physical evidence, if there was any, is long gone. But given Cosby's high profile, and the length of time he was supposedly committing these offenses, there would have to be witnesses who could corroborate the allegations of these women. If true, bodyguards, handlers, assistants, etc. would have to have known.
I disagree. No doubt there will be biographies and books about the topic; the story of Cliff Huxtable as a rapist would sell some books. I just don't see book publishers lining up to pay accusers to write books about their Cosby rape experiences. There will be books. But they will be written by others. And others will benefit financially from them. I guess we'll see. You're right that there is still a certain stigma attached to being a rape accuser, but the public love a good victim story, especially one that brings down the rich and powerful. I believe the financial incentive is real and book publishers will be lining up with offers to tell this story.
I don't mind it if the accusations are true. But I hate to see anyone falsely accused. These accusations will continue to be questioned unless some kind of corroborating evidence surfaces or witnesses come forward. I still don't like the fact that someone's name can be ruined based on accusations alone.
You have a good point. And it probably doesn't have to be that big of a news story either. One point of contention: I don't believe the public dismissed these allegations, the media have. Now it's a story because the media are in a feeding frenzy and it's driving ratings. However, if a big news event happens tomorrow, like a terrorist attack or plane crash, they will drop the Cosby story like yesterday's news and that will be the end of it. The media create the message based on what sells.
