It depends on the Bitcoin ATM manufacturer. For example, those made by Robocoin allow you to sell BTC for cash as well as exchanging cash for BTC. But those made by Lamassu only allow you to purchase BTC.

I will check one out near me. I see that it has a limit of $250. Thanks for the info.

If you are in the U.S. and want to use a Bitcoin ATM to receive cash, you may have to set up and verify an account and comply with AML and KYC regulations.

It hardly seems like a better option than Coinbase or Circle (which also require AML/KYC but have much lower rates than BTC ATMs for cashing out BTC).

I've heard of these in a few selected areas if it becomes more it could be a game changer.
