Bitcoin vs credit card

A source on here let's you buy with credit card, but many members have committed how dumb it would be to do that. If you buy a Visa gift card cash wouldn't it be as secure as Bitcoin?

I would consider credit card if 1) the item on the reciept isn’t “illegal steroids” or something and 2) the web store is outside of the jurisdiction of the US government, including not a friendly nation, and 3) the web store is more of an eBay type store that sells many legal things and not something running on some server in who knows where.
The gift card might add some protection.
Also, remember that bitcoin is EASILY traceable. It’s a public ledger.

I keep hearing how Bitcoin is traceable, that's why a gift card bought with cash would be as safe or safer. The biggest risk with either is the shipper keeping 8nfo or the government tracking shipments

Bitcoin is not as secure as you might think

If you refer to QS he has a legal business in China and he made a payment invoice for alibaba like you buy toys for example but send you steroids. It's not saying on your bank history that you bought 100g of viagra from China but some toys.( you got the point)

Xmr has some privacy in transfer so use that it offers more of security but if they really search you they will find you. For a regular customer is not something they will really search you but depending on the country and so on

I'm not saying Bitcoin is safe and I'm not going to use my credit or debit card either way. I'm saying if you buy a gift card with cash I don't see how that's not as safe if not safer than Bitcoin. Some people have said that anything with a card is more dangerous but I don't see why. I'm also not trying to promote a source, just asking a general question

I don't know how this pre pay card works as I don't have where I live
But from what I understand is a safer options.
A customer is not something they look after but for a source. That doesn't mean that you will be reckless but you are not a direct target like the guy that buy 1gr of marijuana is not a target but the dealer

In the US we can buy a Visa credit card with cash and that card will only have as much money available to it as what you buy it for at the store. If you buy it cash I don't see how it would be traceable to you

I'm wondering more about address getting tied to a card during shipping or something, that's why I'm hoping someone can chime in on why it may be less safe than Bitcoin

I think youre overthinking the "bitcoin isnt as safe as you think" pov. No one cares about your $200 btc transaction to Johns Baked Beans in Denmark or whatever the shit, doesnt matter. You send $3M to china, columbia, russia, or iran than yeah you'll probably get flagged.

If you're still paranoid, buy btc, send it thru coinjoin or tornado, receive it at a hardwallet (ledger, trez, etc) then swap back to whatever token you want to use to pay.

The narcissism of privacy is real.

My question isn't weather Bitcoin is safe or not but rather how safe it is compared to a visa gift card purchased with cash

Just my 2 cents, and I'm not as knowledgeable as I should be in regards to bitcoin and crypto transfers, with that being said, I don't think anything would be "cleaner" than a gift card paid for in cash. I've yet to have an Indian (no offense to my dotted foreheaded friends) ask for crypto payments. 9/10 times it's a gift card. May go 9.5/10.

Many people on here seem to be anti card and pro Bitcoin. I'm hoping one chimes in on why. My only guess is that there has to be an address attached to the card purchase but I haven't ordered anything online with a gift card

I would think if you bought a visa card with cash, and can use it without tying a name or address to a purchase with the card, that's as or more secure than btc.

What people are just saying is that buying btc and sending may be not 100% secure, but chances of someone tracing a small purchase and transfer are slim.

I mean, in the US you can buy as many gift cards as you choose, with cash, without ID. Maybe it's inconvenient for the purveyor, or some form of ID is needed on their end? I don't know. But I do believe EVERYTHING on the internet is traceable. It may be careless on my end, but if they send a swat team to my home they will be leaving with a handful of vials and less than 50 tablets. It wouldn't be pursued. But... I'm sure buying $10,000 worth of gift cards with cash at the store, there's an assistant manager that just won't be able to mind his own business and it goes from there. I'm picturing a middle aged guy, short sleeved shirt but with a tie, and cheap shoes. Definitely cheap shoes.

I've ordered with BTC (mostly) but also credit card (QSC). No problems yet.

Most prepaid cards that are found in a big box store can’t be used internationally. So there is that.
Wait a minute though, why do the scammers always ask for gift cards then? I'm not invalidating your response, but I do have to question it it as I truly don't know. These guys ask for Amazon, steam, all kinds of various cards, but yes, I've never seen or heard them ask for Visa...
