Blood Pressure and Sugar Monitors

Does anybody have any suggestions for blood pressure and blood sugar monitors?

Most of the ones I see online have some reviews where they compare the readings of the one they bought and the ones doctors have, and the readings are way off. Or the one they bought just straight up give different/inaccurate readings every time.

Readings are usually off because of the cuff size. Ensure you get the right size. I always tell medical staff I need xl and they advise "this one will work" the smaller the higher the reading or it just errors. Most of them will be perfectly fine given sizing is correct.

For BG monitoring I prefer the one touch verio reflect.

I use the connectQ BP, has more stats, seems more accurate then the OMRON types. rather pricey

omron is based. I just use the wrist cuff. It’s not super pricy either.

glucometers are pretty stable anyways so shouldnt be hard to get a decent one

glucometer I compared my amazon iMDK brand to the accu-chek nad they were basically the same. my abbot freestyle 2 libre cgm sucked and always read much higher. probably just better for trends then it is the reading at that point in time

For BG, I compared an AUVON glucometer found on amazon, the Accu-chek Guide Me, and two Contour meters (next EZ and next GEN). The AUVON meter was often an outlier, usually reading 10-20 mg/dL lower tham the others.

I settled on the Contour next GEN as my go-to because the strips are cheaper than Accu-chek's, though the lancing device that came with the Accu-chek is really nice - it has these barrel-like cartridges that work for 6 pokes and you use a switch to rotate the barrel after each poke. Then when disposing, all of the needles are contained within the barrel, so no sharps concerns. After I used those up though, I just manually poke my finger with a regular lancet now because they're cheaper.

Fot BP, I have both the wrist and arm-based versions of the Omron. the readings are typically very similar. Arm size is 17.5" flexed; using the normal-sized cuff. The wrist one is nice and compact for travel and if I had to pick one, that's what I would go with.

I bought this one on amazon back in 2021:

A&D Medical Blood Pressure Monitor for Home Use

At just under $97 it's a little cheaper than when I bought it for $117 a few years back.

It is pretty accurate and it comes with a larger cuff. Bigger guys with 18" arms or bigger need the bigger cuff. Otherwise, the smaller cuffs give higher than normal readings. I always have to tell a nurse to be sure to use the larger cuff on me when they take my blood pressure at the doctor's office.
