Blood Pressure Monitoring

That’s insane that a smartwatch could be as accurate or more than a cuff. My mind can’t even fathom this.
It is. I get low readings together on both. Then when its high on my watch I pull out my cuff and its spot on. Also I was donating plasma for a while and they check your blood pressure. I would always check it right before with my watch and the reading I would get at the plasma donation center was exactly the same within two or three points. Technology has come a long way. Wrist cuffs still suck. The watch seems to be way more accurate than the wrist cuff.

My mind is blown

What brand of watch do u use

Get a smartwatch that takes blood pressure. I have a $40 one off of Amazon and it works great compared to my omicron cuff. That way your phone will get all your blood pressure readings for the whole day and then pick an average. It's normal for your blood pressure to be high during some parts of the day and low some parts of the day. So you really need to know your average blood pressure.
Is it the fitVII? Sorry just saw your reply

Legit feel I may have started the cheap smart watch bpm trend lol. Easier than finding a fitted cuff which can skew results alot.
Got flac for it over a month ago. Now it seems the sub $50 amazon watch for blood pressure is the go to.

I like it because it's fast and convenient and mainly gives you patterns to check. Even if it's off a little you will get a good average of what you are at during the day.
I compare mine to my cuff and they are pretty close to each other. Any of them could be off a little for any reason.

Yes if anything the watch seems just a few points high so if you can get it good on the watch it's going to be really good on your cuff.

Nobody is saying just trust the watch. The watch is just a good tool so you can get readings all day long and then you can do your cuff at night time or in the morning.

So I got the FITVII watch off Amazon a few days ago. Been using it randomly to track BP and it’s been coming back between 120/70- 139/80 pretty consistently which I would imagine I would be sitting.

Used my cuff and 1st reading got 190/98 second 175/99 and 134/80 my third and another 88/89… I tried it a good 7 times switching arms and just testing different areas it simply doesn’t work. I’m going to the doctor soon so I’ll see what it is there. Overall for 50$ I’d say the watch is pretty worth it.

That's how I feel with the cuff. It takes way more work to put it on right to get good readings. Like it's tight around muscle belly but a finger or two can fit under the ends. Or it's just way too tight or loose. I have one spot on my forearm I feel I can get decently consistent but again I also have to spend alot more effort and several runs to ensure I trust it.

I had a friend in the navy that Got doctors to track thier IHB just because an apple watch was giving them warnings and the VA doctor trusted the watch but had them wear a tapped on electric device to thier chest for a week.

In the OR the other day the dude was like 5’8 and 300 lbs of just slop. Guys blood pressure was 135/73. I just can’t believe that. There is no way electric cuffs can be accurate.

I think specifically if you have muscle it kicks readings up on the machine.

I’m going to experiment with having people take my BP manually at work and will report back with comparisons.

Its scary to think that often our blood pressure as steroid users can be higher than that of obese people. We can scoff and scorn at them being unhealthy all we want but little do we realise we are often worse internally during the time we spend on gear.

I'm sure it has to do with pressure against the cuff. Muscle is hard and will not let the machine get tight or a small movement can greatly increas the tension of the cuff throwing off the reading.
I do agree the best way is by hand with a manual cuff and stethoscope. But that still takes practice. Electric does the same just without room for error. So again you slightly flex and your already pretty dense/hard your gonna greatly alter the cuff pressure and therefore the reading.

Weight is weight and makes your heart work harder, whether muscle or fat. That’s the worst part.

Exactly. I had the hardest time at commercial gyms as a trainer because people would look at me and assume healthy because i look how i do.
I always had to clarify if you want to be healthy forget about body image. Some of the people in the group classes(God I hate those classes) probably had better hearts than me or better conditioning but you would assume not based on body image i would Even tell them. The other trainer just copy and pasted shitty workouts for them and had no idea of actual functionality while training yet loved to tout how "functional" it was because that's what the youtuber told her lol. She had no idea what the difference between movements and would call reverse curls triceps push downs lol. She was nasm certified...
She had no idea of any basic training protocol. She was a woman who lost weight and decide she could sell the image so got a cert. She was more interested in passing a fad on then actually knowing how to help people.
Not only the constant weight but the overall load put on the body with heavy lifting too will create blood pressure spikes that are unhealthy.

With that rant over
Health comes in all shapes and sizes.

So checking BP when your muscles are still pumped a few hours after training will definitely skew results in a sense?

What about a Whoop watch for monitoring BP and all the sleep stuff it does? I’ve got to get something to monitor BP but if I’m going to wear a watch for that I would like for it to do a lot more than just monitor BP

I actually looked up this watch on Amazon based on this post. Looks interesting and put it on my list for future purchase. Really just looking to monitor my BP as I've generally run slightly high (140/75) most of my life. Want to see how well Hawthorn Berry works at reducing BP.

Hawthorne berry and Carditone (from Amazon) will lower my BP on a blast anywhere from
10-15/5-7 points with one pill at night. Some take one Carditone in the AM and PM for even better lowering capabilities. Be careful though it can lower it quick. Also use Beet root juice with solid effects.
