Blood Pressure

Check your potassium level
the only thing I noticed is that sometimes during the day on telmisartan there is a slight mini-pain in the chest which sometimes hurts on the left side of the back. but a very slight pain. Like a point. I remember one guy wrote about the same symptom

I noticed this specifically with taking telmisartan. I'm talking about urination. can i stop telmisartan to avoid this effect until i get my potassium tested?
It’s never recommended to stop BP medication cold turkey. When are your labs? That particular lab returns in 1-3 days at LabCorp.

I'm going to go to labcorp on Thursday. I also wanted to check the hematocrit.
Both CBC and Comprehensive Metabolic Panel return in 1-3 days. That’ll get you hematocrit, RBC, hemoglobin, potassium, sodium, and AST/ALT. Hydrate well the days leading up to it, and while it’s difficult to do so hydrate well the morning of your labs also. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your help. I hope the indicators will be normal.

I get this too sometimes. At 30mg per day. Last time I ran it. Getting ready to try it again to see

@BazzBeat

Memorial Sloane Kettering says this can happen when starting Telm or increasing the dose.
Yea not sure if it’s the amlodipine or telimisartan. But I did cardio and added in the telimisartan. So 30 mg telimisartan. 5mg amlodipine. Today my lowest reading was 128/80. Highest was 142/88. So I sit down with feet flat. Palms down. Arms slightly below chest. And do each arm a few times. My first is sometimes high because I have to over come the “fear of the cuff” lmao. I have white coat bad. Few surgeries. But yea. Going to try my best to sleep well this week hit the cardio. And keep diet clean. If I can hit a 120/70 I’ll stay on the medicine for life lmao

I did add a baby aspirin in evening. Doubt if that helped. Idk why I even did that now that I’m writing this lol

Make sure your arm is elevated and resting like this photo. The cuff should be at heart level.

Don't forget 2 weeks for a new BP med or dosage change to really show up in the numbers.
