Blown vein from bloodwork

Had bloodwork done at doctor visit this morning, and the phlebotomist blew out my vein on the inside of my elbow. Have a swollen spot there now. Did some online searching and just get the general ice / rest advice. Anyone had this happen and have any issues lifting? Definitely dont want to make it worse. Today was going to be arm day, but I plan to swap to another day.

I was a heroin addict from my teens to mid 20s. I collapsed out about every vein on my body. Veins are remarkably good at what they do. Most of mine (except my favorites which collapsed permanently) came back almost entirely after about 5 years clean. Bodybuilding also helps a lot. High blood pressure does not and destroys valves.

Yours will be just fine if you just have a bump. Let it heal. Use a different vein next time.

Any lifting raises BP. So if you are worried about your vascular system then taking some time off till healing is done can be prudent. If not then have fun.

man that is the absolute worst. it happened to me a few years back and my whole arm turned purple for like two weeks lol. honestly i would definitely skip arm day today... any heavy pulling or curling is just gonna put a ton of pressure on that spot and make the bruising way worse. just swap to legs or take a rest day and keep some ice on it. it’ll probably look scary tomorrow once the blood really starts to pool but as long as the swelling goes down you should be fine to lift in a day or two. just dont be a hero and try to hit a heavy back session tonight or you'll regret it!
