I had extremely low ferritin due to a lower GI bleed. After surgery, doc had me on vitron c, which is basically iron and vitamin c. Iron needs a slightly acidic environment for proper absorption and you will need to take it when you’re not taking the omeprazole. Takes a decent amount of time to rebuild your ferritin levels. Other options would include an infusion, which may be worth it if you’re having low ferritin symptoms.
