Brewing question

Such a shame... Electronic tools just aren't what they used to be.

Anyway, cover the becker with cellophane to prevent dust whatever is a good idea..

I proved today that some mls of BA putted in becker at 50 C evaporate very fast , you ll prove that 2% BA in oil won’t evaporate... that’s cool, since I thought different... but now I trust your argumentations
Doing more research here and BA has a flashpoint of 96 degrees Celsius. Keep that in mind if for any reason you are using any sort of flame under your beaker. It’s not like we use a lot of it or go that high with the heat but you might have a point about the vaporizing. My wife is a chemistry professor and works in a lab and really had no answer for this except what you said about alcohols vaporizing and low temperatures. She said if it is vaporizing at 50 degrees all by itself then yeah maybe add it after the last cool down and prior to filtering. I guess kinda like water how you can start seeing steam even from a shower but it’s not close to boiling. You may lose some of the product.

I can’t breath in my home since I let evaporate that fuckin shit and forgot.. 30ml something like that at 50 C for 30 min maybe... anyway I would a flow hood...

That’s total BS brother
For real.
how much is the temperature fluctuating?
40C
From 30c to 85c up and down fast and constantly.
I have sent it for fixing
It looks like that stirrer had a thermometer that you place in the vial to give a digital readout on the screen but on of the analog disks control the temperature-is that correct? So if you leave the dial at one of the lower notches- how much is it fluctuating? Or does it just keep heating like my electric stove does? The cheaper ones will not maintain the exact temperature but more like a range.

Who the hell uses flame? I hope people don't.

Put some ba on a napkin
Put some ethanol on a napkin
Well put quite some to make it more easily observable.

Observe.

I did it too. This shit will not vaporize. For this, there was no heat applied.
It took hours and it was still there.
It is BENZYL. It will leave an oily-ish stamp on the napkin.
I repeat, the fact that it is an alcohol does not mean that it behaves like ethanol.
A small change greatly affects a chemical.
Ethanol won't stain the napkin.

This shit at 2% is not going anywhere IN an oily solution.

20ml of 100% benzyl alcohol behavior has nothing to do with 2% spread out in a an oily solution consisting of 4 components.

Particularly in the case you mentioned, this is absolutely not evaporation.
It's called condensation and is a result of a different mechanism. Water isn't going anywhere.

I was with someone of a related field when the stirrer shat on me. I cannot give specifics.

I told him what's the debate and when he saw the napkin,he said "benzyl group, that's why the low volatility".

I repeat,the stirrer got shat. I didn't do what I wanted.

@Slicknyc

That heat plate and magnetic stirrer from Amazon that I got fluctuates like 7c or less. I know for a fact not more than 10c. When I set it I turn it straight to the mark I made with a sharpie, wait for it to max out and start dropping so I know it's set. It will usually go from like 50c down to 44c.

As far as the ba evaporating. I dont think it's evaporating that fast if much at all. Use your pill making scales to weigh a cap full. Come back later and check the weight for your answer.

Yes yes.
I don't think that it's volatile, I bet my ass it isn't.
Proving it is my thing here. I don't care if I am wrong or right.
Then I need to check the same thing, with temperature applied.

I need to do this.

And the fucking stirrer died on me man. Fml

I haven’t tried it at all. I have no idea what happened with Frozen but you see what he wrote above. I was just assuming maybe it’s like water before it starts to boil you actually lose a small amount of volume from the steam.

can you at least get your money back?

Yes I remember which one you had you posted it. You said you marked the position. How do you like that one overall?

Nothing happened with frozen. There's no beef.

I have sent my shit to an engineer that is in the know regarding machines like this. I cannot mention more specifics but I believe in the man.
Next thing,if he fails that is,I will try to take my money back.

I think he means What happened at my BA that evaporated badly.. but you already spoke about the different thing of 2ml in oil vs 20ml’s alone...

So far I love it. 100% satisfied. 7 different size stirrers included. Just mark your Temps and it's perfect. I have a digital laser thermometer that I checked it with and very happy.
