Brutus79 And Johnnyballz Cycle Log

Thanks Beast. Best part is the only one who ever curls in the squat rack at MP's gym is ME.

Sorry for the thread hijack Brutus and JB.
Thread jack? You just made the thread. I love reading/watching this stuff and I am flattered all you guys are following. Real talk.

I never lock out at the top anymore....used to cause all sorts of elbow issues....

Just saying

MGH- I appreciate it. Trucker rightfully points out I don't lock out at the top. Ever since my bicep tendon tear and surgery I stop a couple of inches from lockout on any weighted dips to save my elbows.

Probably should have posted a heavy full ROM close grip bench to do justice to the strong thread JB and Brutus have going here but this whole thing started when I suggested to JB he trade out skullcrushers for dips.

Speaking of that JB, I didn't realize you are only 27 brother. No wonder the skullcrushers aren't killing your elbows yet!

He will be 30 next month mp- just old enough to not be young, yet young enough to blame his youth for him passing me strength wise. The perfect training partner!

I must have misread his post. Your right, that is a good combination for a training partner!

It wasn't all the way locked out or bottomed out. FUCK when I do em my elbows go above my head bro

IMO that going that low stimulates the chest instead of the triceps. Nothing wrong with that if that is what you want to work. My elbows would never hold up to it, I know you are a big dude brother. Keep doing what your doing, I'm 48 and have to work around my injuries.

Either that or cut the time you have left to train as hard as you want in half.
I hear ya.

That's the same thing to me as half squats and a2g squats. Yup your gonna do less a2g but it's proper and a true indication of strength.

That is a half dip

I ain't trying to start shit. I mean no disrespect

It's not the same thing at all, you can't apply this dogma to every single lift there is. You wouldn't try and bottom out on a Romanian deadlift for example. I certainly wouldn't, unless I want to explode everything in my body. It's pointless too.

Well shit then next time I'll dangle some plated nutz between my legs and cut my range in motion in half.

I know you are saying this facetiously, but reducing rom and increasing poundages works very well for weighted dips.

Descend to the point of a stretch, not pain. Ideally, you should feel a slight stretch of both heads of the pectoralis major as well as the anterior deltoid. You should not sink below where the elbow achieves 90 degrees of flexion or where the back of your arm is parallel with the ceiling.

Also, performing dips with an extended range of motion in which the biceps and forearms make contact will increase rotation at the shoulder, perhaps contributing to impingement over time. Going really low also overstretches the pectoralis, increasing the likelihood of tearing it.

Elite is one of my favorite sites... a ton of inspiring authors.

Agreed, its definitely a great resource. Lots of excellent and detailed articles on periodization methods and training programming in general, which I like.

I've always preferred reading strength oriented sites and coaches when it comes to training info, even though bodybuilding is the goal for me. The quality of information is just so much better imo. Definitely a great resource for just about anyone.

I decided during the discussion last night that next Friday I was going to video some heavy close grip presses as my form on them is full ROM. Unfortunately, my nature is to competitive so when I woke up in the middle of the night to take a pee I decided I had to do the close grips this morning.

So 15 hours after heavy close grips and half dips yesterday I worked up to a paused close grip at 315 and a second at 335 both videos are below. Weight this morning was 192 and my current "cycle??" is 5 grams a day of creatine. What did this accomplish, nothing as far as my training goes but hopefully it will serve as motivation for some of you guys.

BEASTLY! I jerk off a lot but I doubt my wrists could handle that!

That's great @Masters Power . Very strong. I can't duplicate results here, no way man! In my teenage years I couldn't close grip shit and always did my presses with my ring finger on the power tab. That gave me an advantage because my shoulders are dominant in any pressing movement. I won more than one PL meet that way. Well 16 yrs later I adopted a far more narrow grip, almost like a close grip, to develop my pecs better. So to any body out there who has issue developing ALL pecs on chest day. Move your arms closer and engage them that way. Im currently doing my chest presses narrow 225x8 and my chest has never been better. THANKS FOR THE MOTIVATION MAN. Maybe some day ill crush 315 or 335
