Calorie deficit question

If I understand correctly, lifting for strength or gains requires an increase in calories to fuel those gains. If you want to get rid of fat, you need to lessen the calories you take. If that's true, how do you balance those two goals of building muscle and losing fat? Can you only accomplish one of those goals at a time?

Choose one my friend.. You simply cannot have both.

The key is to increase or decrease slowly and moderately. When bulking this helps keep fat gain at a minimum, and when cutting it helps preserve as much muscle as possible.
