Can I feel my liver?

I thought I had torn my intercostal muscle. I have a dull ache that in my upper right rib cage that started about 10 days ago and seems to be getting worse. I have continued to lift weights and that is the rub, doesn't seem to be any worse when lifting, except bench, when I go through the motions. In fact, it hurts about the same when tying my shoes as it does when I curl a hundred pounds or so. I got my cbc done a few days ago and was surprised to find my liver enzymes high. I test 3-4 times a year and have always had mid range levels even when drinking. Been on cycle with 600 bold and 500 test E for about a month. Had a hard time sleeping on my right side last night as the pain seems to be increasing. My kidneys and other markers seem to be fine. No other liver symptoms such as fever, yellow skin/eyes etc... just a dull sort of itchy pain under right rib cage. This is the latest test as well as other bad news on the test. Any suggestions? Worry?

No orals? Do you smoke a lot of weed or cigarettes? I used to get similar pains as a smoker. You should post this the men's health or steroid forum. See a doctor that will look into this if yours won't.

Yeah if you smoke sometimes you can get a pain similar do to what I believe is gas. You been going to the bathroom regularly? Are you having any pain in your right shoulder or down the right arm?

You can also have a family member or your girl palpate your upper right quadrant of your abdomen and see if its painful or hard. I would also maybe take a day or two to relax and see if it improves.

I would howeverduring those rest days go get a doctor involved as the liver and kidneys are not something to mess with!

More likely a muscle tear or a bowel irritation of some sort. What was your BUN level? Drinking adequate amounts of water daily? Your AST and ALT levels are slightly elevated, which can fluctuate daily depending on diet, exercise and of course, any drugs you may be taking. If you're not taking any orals, the bold and the test would have minimal impact on the liver.

Take it easy for a week or so, review what your ingesting and eliminate any medicines or supplements that may tax the liver. The levels should normalize on their own and hopefully the problem will resolve itself. Good luck.

Good advice here ^^ .

Also have you ran eq before? Have you used this ugl before? Always possible they gave you something besides eq or a mix of some sort.

Although i do believe there has been some individuals that have had their liver enzymes rise from just test but it is extremely rare. Might not have been a reliable source that stated it so don't quote me on that.

Coincidentally I have had a few drags off a cigarette or two, ironically, I live in Colorado but haven't smoked weed in 30 years. Maybe two or three drags off a cigarette a day but stopped a few days ago.
Have run eq for about fifteen years when on, source is excellent, better than a Walgreens compounding shop. Have been cycling since the late 1980's ... Have been on this board since '98, not actively for the last decade, sorry Millard.
However, last night yielded no relief. Bun level 21 mg/dL 6-24 DV, like I said, kidneys seem to be fine. Stool all good as well as pee. Have done zero orals in five or so years, was good quality var at the time in low quantities. My real puzzle is why it happened so fast, 3 months ago liver enzymes were in the low 20's... Thanks for the ideas guys.

Don't think its the liver but rather the intercostal muscles. Try taking deep breaths and see if the pain worsens in severity. What were you doing upon pain onset?

No change in pain when breathing, just certain motions with or without resistance. Stopped all meds, letro and test e/b and am going to order another blood test (lef.org). Will wait a month and let you know results. Thanks guys.

Yeah I agree. Plus if it was the liver I would think it would probably be pretty constant if it was the liver unless maybe from some kind of trauma. I would just go easy a few days .

What were you doing when you first noticed it?

how's your appetite? energy? sometimes these are signs of liver stress. based on what you've told us so far i think it's a muscle issue and not a organ issue, but im no doctor

Appetite is good, may be from eq... Energy same as always. First noticed pain off an on at random times, nothing to tie it to falling down or any specific event. Turned more consistent, more frequent, now a dull ache all the time but hurts more when sitting up or bending down. Pain is very tolerable, more concerned with liver enzymes than anything. Will update in 2-3 weeks when I get blood work back. Thanks again guys.

Bro I can help fix you!!! I had this happen to me and oddly enough it started on test 500 eq 400 cycle!! Same pains. Had ultrasound/cmp/cbc/ct without contrast. All tests said liver was fine. The tech said she noticed alot of bowel up in me. I figured it out. Eq and red blood cells are like brother and big sister. You are eating at a rate your body can't process food fast enough. Your bowel system and liver Boggs down. Go buy the vitamin acidophilus. I would recommend taking enough delcolax to clean all of you out and then once you clean out you take the acidophilus 3 x a day. It is a good bacteria that will help process the extra food you are eating on the eq. Trust me friend. It will work!!

A lot of gastroenterologists wouldn't even consider that out of the normal range. The only time I felt pain due to inflammation was when my levels were over 300 and that was due to swelling and the liver pushing on other organs. It was painful at times when they were over 1000+ but it was a mild discomfort at anything lower. Maybe a hernia?

Bigpop, You are right. But here is the issue or at Least the issue for me. 33 yr old male with pain in right upper quadrant. Ct/ut/bloods all say normal. The only conclusive answer I got was that I had bowel impaction showing on film. This can way on your mind and rip out your soul. Stressing thinking your liver or kidneys are bad is a nightmare. I been there. It is scary. Upper quad pain could be many things Both minor and serious. You almost can't roll the dice and say fuck it.

Yo! Have not done bloods so can't say for sure. Good friend/doc said to cut the beta blockers (high bp) and see what happens. Sure enough, no more pain. Stopped Atenolol and started feeling better. Could be coincidence, will post next blood test in a couple weeks. Thanks for all the help... Meso Rocks!

Considering ALL the studies are WNL of MOST lab ranges, rather than using some unproven concoction for some unknown diagnosis on a mate with nonspecific symptoms, perhaps doing NOTHING is the best order of the day.

Of course that's assuming the OP has no systemic signs or symptoms is otherwise young, health and doesn't drink like a fish with yellow eyes :)
