My questions are is there a exercise I could do to help make muscle stronger around the affected area it my lower lumber 1-5 discs are bulging injury happened 36 days ago. Other question is can I still train other parts of my body. And yes I am very new to training any advice would be cool thanks

I assume you have symptoms of sciatica? When I was experiencing bad sciatica from L4 to S1 bulges, I found lumbar safe core exercises helpful. Along with proper back stretching. You need to Google lumbar safe core workouts because traditional situps are bad on the lower back if you round it out.

In regards to working out say upper body, you need to ensure no pressure is being placed on the disc's. I'd try lower weights and try some exercises. You need to be careful and try and let the body recover before injuring yourself more. Recommend a physical therapist to possibly guide you if you're unsure.

Good evening thanks for the advice., and yes 3 weeks ago I couldn’t stand straight t the pain was just like Sciatica. Er doc only did a ct scan I have appointment with a Nero Orthopedic doctor coming up but still want to workout but don’t want to hurt myself either I work in construction and have a very bad habit I’m not lifting with my knees properly when I’m picking up heavy stuff. Gonna definitely check out what google has to say and gonna look into finding a fellow gym member on the proper way to lift. Thanks again

Since you’re seeing doctor I’m going to guess you have some sort of healthcare coverage. Ask for physical therapy, do the exercises they assign, and ask for additional exercises and what you can do to transition to weight lifting and strength training. Most physical therapists will be excited to treat someone that actually puts in the work and isn’t just doing the minimum required to qualify for surgery.

Only have state healthcare but every once in a while I get a good doctor that actually cares, gonna keep my fingers crossed. I truly hope I don’t have to do any type of back surgery. It scares me tbh one mistake and POW I won’t be walking again. But thanks for the advice and I gotta say I love working out I started late in life at 45 at 246 pounds of unwanted fat two years later I’m at 178 but I’m 6 ft. I didn’t realize there is a science ti working out I thought it was all push pull lift boy was I in for a shock but I like it but I need to do it correctly I blew my right shoulder out doing the at Arnould dumbbell press the put me out for three months a year ago. But again thanks for the advice

I’m not much younger and only started doing things right a few years ago. I started PT for shoulder problem, as 12 sessions were required before they would allow surgery. I decided to take it seriously, then hired a personal trainer and the Physical Therapist wrote up some instructions for my trainer. My shoulder and back are 80-90% improved and I’m no longer looking for surgery. It was a long road but entirely worth it.

Holy cow!! That’s a hell of a improvement and no surgery. Definitely gonna ride on physical therapy train as long as I can as I am now at work I won’t lift anything heavier then a ladder. I also started in sales about 3 months ago so it’s easier on my body no more caring shingles or buckets of cement up the ladder cause my company does roofing and rebuilding of chimneys. Never knew physical therapy could help that much. That’s probably the reason why my knees still hurt my late twenties I tore my meniscus in both knees twice in my left knee and 3 times on my right and still have tears Orthopedic said it wasn’t a good idea to keep removing the cartridge for soon it would be bone on bone and I just leaned to adapt but I never finish pt.
