Car Stereo Gurus ???

We'll listen to MP3 from an ipod or phone almost exclusively. Current system just uses a head phone jack to connect the ipod to the stereo.

It seems like that would be a weak link in the whole sound quality department.

It is a weak link but if the mp3s are of good quality it should be fine unless your an audiophile wanting pristine quality. Just stay away from Pandora or other low quality STREAMING sources. MOST people can't tell the difference between a descent MP3 from a cd anyways.

However I do prefer line in over Bluetooth though.

First off, head on over to DIYMA.com and ask your questions there. Tons of experienced members and lots of knowledge.

For me. The first this to switch out would be the speakers, specifically JUST the front door speakers. Component set would be the ticket. At the time of the speakers you'll want to also add an amplifier for them. Without the amp, there's really no benefit of replacing the speakers with quality ones.

If you want an all in one amp, JL Audio 900.5 or arc audio 1200.6. Both are small footprint amps.

But go to the site, DIYMA and ask the questions and you'll get fantastic responses. Don't forget to give a final budget for every thing.
