Cardio advice

I have the next 2 months off work and I really want to shed some weight. I think my diet is fine and I want to start some cardio next week. I'm thinking Cardio for 40 min. in the morning (20 min. running/20 min. Elliptical) then breakfast/lunch then weights in the afternoon. I've heard of the "fat burning zone" but a lot of people tell me it's bullshit and that I should just run my ass off and keep my heart rate up. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Jeff

just use the mirror. if you're losing too much muscle as you trim down, ease up a bit. if not, you're doing something right. simple as that. the mirror does not lie. agree with thick on the interval training.

Thanks for the advice guys...
I just started on Monday. Safe to say I didn't last the full 20min on the treadmill and Elliptical trainer. I almost passed out, So I am just going up 1 minute per day in length. Thought I was in decent shape but that was a real eye opener.
