Cardio and post-workout nutrition

Normally I do 45 minutes cardio in the am and then lift in the afternoon. This year I'm doubling up on the cardio 45 minutes AM and then 45 minutes PM after i finish my workout..

Do you guys do cardio directly before your workout or directly after? I like doing it after but my question is this, when should you drink your post workout shake? after your workout or after the 45 minutes of cardio? What I've been doing is sipping on it during my cardio, not sure if that correct?

my post cycle 100 grams of dextrose w/ 50-60 gramsof whey..

what are your thoughts on this?

I think some of it will depend on how long your w/o's are. How long do you lift? That is a hell of a lot of cardio Big louie. You trying to become slim louie?

about an hour

I do cardio after my workout this way my glycogen stores are depleted so my body taps into bodyfat for energy, by sipping on a post workout drink containing dextrose your allowing your body to use some of the dextrose as an energy source thus less efficiently burning bodyfat
What you could do is take a proein drink immediately after your workout then your post workout drink after your cardio this will help you preserve muscle.

my thoughts exactly.. Thanks

If your cardio is low intensity after your weights I think you're probably ok waiting until after the cardio to slam the protein and carb shake--I think you'll burn more fat that way. Even a pure protein shake with no carbs will interfere with fat burning because you do get an insulin response to protein, albeit less than you'd get to carbs. Anyway, the only caveat is that if you're deep into a diet watch out as your glycogen may be too low and you may burn muscle while aerobicizing. It works well for me because I don't do drastic calorie reductions to lose bodyfat.

that sounds good bro, i don't do low carbs when cutting, i don't go below 400 grams a day and can still shed fat.. I stick with low glycemic and just do lots of cardio, next to nothing in the muscle loss department..

thanks all..
