I'm a insulator. We do a lot of overhead work as well. You guys got those fancy scaffolding with the break up top?
I have scaffold flowing through my veins. Yet right now I'm surrounded by fiberglass, hand laid and infused. The scaffold biz didn't make me itch like this. Yet I don't experience the vertigo of looking up, 95 feet in the air, crawling out to put that last guard post on.

I dislike that insulation myself.
From the fluffy stuff to the compressed stuff. I wear a mask to keep from itchy throat

Nothing like climbing into a Hull with a grinder on raw glass, the new guy gets that job. Through the rays of sunshine you see the shiny sparkles. Sure we have respirators, however no one wears them when they think they are ok and far enough away. Then there is Cabosil, Guaranteed to clog your lungs with particulate you can't see. We all do what we have to for the ones back home.

When I get on drywall and double up walls I have to wear a mask or I start sneezing up small amounts of blood.
I can feel that stuff inter my lungs. Especially that compressed green stuff they use in the exterior and to fill penetrations before fire caulking.
Even dense glass board has the fibers in it.
And the new shaft liner as well.

I also work from home 100% working on maintenance management software, at least for my day job Firefighter on the side lol

Like maintenance software for industry?

I just wrote software that connects to any PLC and creates a bridge to SQL or Postgrest blah blah....by tracking faults and downtime you can predict preventive maintenance.....

Also great for OEE etc.

It also has the ability to write to PLC....

Web and app enabled real time DDE

Yeah its basically the entire site (oil and Gas, or Mining, etc) set up on computer software using edit masks. It isnquite a complex system more than I know. I have my end which is creating the pieces in the system that replicates the equipment on site, this information is then used to create work orders, direct and manage labour, parts, and costs to the right buckets.

You must be literally a jack of all trades @jolter604. Nice work there brother!

Bet you can get plenty of work in other areas of the country.

Shit Max.

I got 70k saved up but in cali that's only about 7% of the house value....
Congrats on saving up $70k, but consider that maybe buying a house in California is not your best financial move. I am not saying it is not, maybe it is, but at least consider the possibilities.

I'm a materials engineer by trade, but I'm working as a project manager and occasional manufacturing process consultant.

I got burned out with manufacturing and decided to switch gears a few years ago.
