Change PornHub

It says they are still allowing "verified" users to upload videos, and currently all that is required is a video of the user holding a hand written Porn Hub sign. How is that going to stop any ongoing abuse? It will be interesting to see what additional verification measures they take in the future, and if it has any impact on the intended targets.

Yeah, the whole sex industry is fucked. No pun intended, it’s pretty disgusting. I can’t comprehend how people can do shit like that to others

Money and demand.

The internet porn industry alone is worth >$30 billion... Lots of people are going to want to get a piece of it and they're going to create content that has some demand. Unfortunately, the depraved shit has demand too.

With that said, I disagree that the whole sex industry is fucked. It's a business selling a product and/or service and it's profitable. I've read quite a bit about the sex industry and, although I find it kind of sad generally, I think it's a lot more professional and regulated than most people give it credit for. I think it's cool that men/women can earn a living for doing something that appeals to them... But, I am conflicted because the reward to benefit ratio is so skewed that there's really no reason it would be a good life choice from the performer's POV. I'm generally opposed to selling sex/your body for that reason... But I'm referring to the more regulated aspects of the industry and not the underage stuff that is more the topic of the thread.

The “above board” areas of the industry sound pretty bad too. I know it may be exceptions but there’s lots of reports where the performer was taken advantage of where the agreed upon scene was forcefully changed to something entirely different. That’s not right. And although the performer may have recourse, they often do not pursue it because they wish to remain in the industry where their only source of income is derived.

It’s a tough world for sure and it’s a shame that people are taken advantage of. It’s definitely not an ideal livelihood even if they pursued it out of a genuine interest and that’s why depression, addiction, and suicide are prevalent. Even among male performers that get to work with the top female performers (shocking right).

Unfortunately, porn is like drugs and alcohol in that if you make it illegal it will just go underground where the criminals will still manufacture and distribute it but the content will be more questionable without regulation.

Getting one of the leading content providers to be more accountable is a step in the right direction. But unfortunately as we’ve seen over the past couple years, the human trafficking portion of this whole thing is completely out of control. The media refuses to cover it or give it the attention it deserves either. There are periodic clips of arrests being made and recoveries but it’s the least talked about issue because average people want to pretend it doesn’t exist, certainly never admitting that when the click on stuff in the privacy of their own home, that they are contributing to the major problem.

I guess what I really meant was human trafficking is fucked. Getting people addicted and being forced into basically sex slavery is a disgusting practice.
If you’re willingly in the sex industry then sure do your thing, I have nothing against that, but it’s really sad that people are being taken advantage of, forced into it and abused.

I guess it depends on how you define "above board". As far as I'm aware, what you're describing with scene changes and such would be extraordinarily rare for the top production companies. There could be significant legal recourse if that were to occur - contracts are already executed by the time shooting begins. The performers are either contract workers with existing contracts in place or they're free agents under an agency that gets them the work and has the ability to file lawsuits as needed. Forcing a performer to do something out of contract with threats would be a liability nightmare...

With that said, male performers do have more exposure to what you're describing... It is also very rare for male performers to actually make a living from shooting scenes, they almost all have second jobs or have to get into the production side of things. The fact that they're more "disposable" has always been the most surprising thing about the industry to me because a male performer's sexual ability is probably less than .0001% of the population... Sure, there's a ton of guys willing to do it but ability to do it is something else entirely. Anyone that has participated in group sex activities can probably attest that performance is incredibly difficult in those kind of situations.

Yeah, I couldn't agree more with that.

I doubt seriously any women really wants 20 guys railing on her butt. It's not a life ambition.

I'd say most of these men and women are basically broken, putting on a face, hanging on the edge of suicide which is extremely common among pornstars.

And of course if you've ever looked under a microscope at the fluids from vaginas, anus like I have you'd know just how filthy sex really is from people that are somewhat normal, let alone the people in the sex industry. When someone sees a hot piece of ass, I instead see their cellular makeup, the parasites hanging out in their holes, and the pcr reports for various stds.

I simply ask that MESO members boycott PornHub until they make some very simple changes in policies and practice.
boycotting pornhub really isn’t going to do anything, also there are so many other porn sites out there anyway so one website being shut down isn’t going to do shit, just like when the original dark net market silk road was shut down. more sites will pop up.

also i did not know about the shit going on with pornhub but the site is most def less popular now since they removed all the non verified videos

You’re right. Go find underaged porn and rape videos on other sites. The point was to make it known. And to use the largest website as an example. A point which was largely lost on you but you did admit you didn’t know PornHub profited off of those videos.

Ultimately, the website that I referenced in the first post gained enough support that they were able to pressure both Visa and MasterCard to threaten to no longer serve PornHub purchases. That’s what tightened it up and removed the non verified material. The shit that shouldn’t have been there generating profit in the first place.

You’re right.
well obviously
The shit that shouldn’t have been there generating profit in the first place.
also pornhub profiting off the millions of videos uploaded weekly/monthly is not really their fault, like there really is no way to verify someones age in the videos that are posted to the website, also if you managed a site that big, you think you could honestly do better ?, you make it sound so easy.

honestly who cares if they make it known and use pornhub as a example, it’s not going to change anything, especially for websites whose servers are not hosted in the u.s.a, australia or canada, (or wherever pornhubs server was at) so what is boycotting actually going to do ? (nothing)

If you want change, hit em in the pocketbook. sad but true

no it’s not easy to do but if you run a porn website you should have to do this regardless if it’s easy. Just because something is difficult to manage Is not an excuse to let shit like that slide. Are you not disgusted with the fact that you could be masturbating to under age girls on any of these sites and have no idea?

so we all agree that running a website like pornhub is obviously difficult, so if you or @BigBaldBeardGuy ran that site, what would you do to address the problem ?, like could you even come up with a solution right now ? (doubt it) cuz you both make it sound like it’s easy and simple.

this is why i was saying, it’s not really pornhubs fault when it comes to the videos in question being uploaded when there are literally millions of videos most likely being uploaded like every week.

like i am sure pornhub has had something in place to combat situations like this prior to what is currently going on, but it’s clear that they need to update whatever system they are using to scan videos before publishing, because knowing people, they always find a way around shit like i still see fucked up videos on youtube sometimes.

also, i did not ever say i was cool with the situation, like it’s obviously wrong and fucked up and i don’t rock with it but i am just stating facts about the situation.
It doesn’t sound like he is.
by the way, you never asked me how i felt about it like how @BigDaddyV did in his last sentence so you can’t just assume I’m cool with it.

No, I have no idea how I would do it but I think if you want to run a website like that, it’s up to you to figure out how to handle those things.

same, like i have no clue how to run a website or how to even manage one but i’m going to assume it’s most definitely not easy running a site like pornhub, so you gotta give them credit for what they did by removing all the unverified videos.

also, ur speaking facts when you say it’s basically up to them to figure out how to handle those things but don’t forget it’s probably not as simple to implement like how we think & there will always be people who abuse the system and find ways to work around rules or whatever

Saying it’s too big to manage legally isn’t a valid justification. It’s very simple, if you owned it and it had ILLEGAL content on it, it’s your responsibility.

It would be like GNC saying “we sell sooooo many supplements that it’s impossible to tell which ones contain steroids.” That’s not a valid excuse.

The problem was that their age and consent form was nothing more than “click here”. So people were uploading it and clicking and the profiting from child abuse. “Barely legal” is one of the most used search terms. To solve it, you handle it the way porn always has, signature pages that are uploaded and copy of drivers license at a MINIMUM. If that takes an entire department of people at PornHub HQ then that’s what they need to do if they want to stay in business.

And you’re right, there will always be the people that cheat the system. Criminals are always figuring that out. But the point was that PornHub was making it entirely too easy because they cared more about profit than anything else and that’s wrong when it ends up resulting in minors being handled as commodities.

And I apologize for assuming, I didn’t realize you were merely playing Devils Advocate.

it really is not a excuse though, like if millions of videos are being uploaded to a website like every week or month, do you really think it’s that easy to manage all that ? like i am not saying pornhub should not be responsible but it’s not 100% their fault either.

like i am sure pornhub had some kind of scanning tool to scan videos before they get published just like what youtube has but it obviously needs updated so it can detect illegal videos better.

now in regards to gnc supplements, there really is no way to tell if steroids or a illegal compound is in there without the supplement getting tested prior to them being put on the shelves, like some supps may have a secret ingredient that isn’t on the label and only a test can confirm what’s in there.

so since gnc sells a lot of supplements, some with banned substances could easily be sold without them knowing like i remember when this pre workout called jak3d was sold there and it had something in it that shouldn’t of been there (DMAA) and after a few people died from it, they did testing on it and eventually banned the substance & that compound is officially illegal now.
The problem was that their age and consent form was nothing more than “click here”.
i have no knowledge on what it’s like to upload a video on pornhub compared to youtube, so i can’t really put my input on this.
they cared more about profit than anything else
also, when you say they cared about profits more than anything else, I’m a bit doubtful on that, like i am sure pornhub still makes tons of money just off their verified content creators alone, like riley reid, lana rhoades ect. (just because i mentioned them doesn’t mean i like em, *wink wink* lol) so idk if that is how they really feel.
I apologize for assuming
it’s chill, thank you for the apology, i appreciate it.
