Anyone use them?

Obviously if we went by WebMd, none of us would touch gear, I'm looking for ACTUAL experience.

My Cholesterol is high, (I've been throwing on weight for over a year now.. that means EATING... and not always clean, sometimes I eat junk to hit my calories.
I SHOULD be able to get it done with diet and natural foods.
Omega 3 and 6..
Metamucil.
Cutting out sugars
Cutting out Bacon.
increase natural HDL intake etc.

That's my goal and plan, I dont want to just jump on meds.
BUT, I like to have a back up plan in case I dont see the results I need to within the time frame I'd like.

Thanks

How high is high ... what are your labs?

A very good test is a carotid artery ultrasound. It will show plaque if there is any. Most docs will say "everyone has got plaque there". But neither my wife or I do. If one doesn't, then why medicate? Usually this stuff starts in one's 20s.

Eating and genetics are what its about. Also, inflammation. Test C reactive protein. One can control eating and inflammation.

I eat high fat, high protein diet since childhood. But don't each junk, which these days means cooking everything from scratch. Am pushing 60, Total Cholesterol has averaged about 250 for 20 years and LDL is around 185.

No doubt I've lucked out with genetics in this regard but wife's family has lots of heart problems. Hope this helps.

Have you tried Niacin WITH Flushing? Give that a shot first before trying statins bro. If you try the Niacin, be ready for the flushing action, which can be mildly uncomfortable.

Cholesterol and C Reactive protein respectively.

Cholesterol is not crazy.
I'm 99% confident I can bring it down via nutrition.
I would really prefer to not skip my oral run on this cycle that I started.
If I can get my LDL down in the next month or so, then I'm not concerned.

I'm just curious about sides and experiences IN CASE I'm not successful (but I most likely will be successful)

I'm not even familiar with Niacin with flushing to be honest.
I'll have to look it up,
Eccextive I presume?

Sorry on my cell.

My cholesterol was really bad after a cycle and it brought me right back into normal range. It was a few years ago and I don’t have the bloodwork for it any longer. My mom’s cholesterol was pretty bad as well and I had her take it and she was able to avoid prescription meds as a result.

Niacin is B3. Niacin will cause 'flushing', niacinamide will not. You want the flushing kind. Try 500mg and go for the ride (no big deal). The used to have a prescription version available.

Niacin sometimes increases HDL. But if you are doing orals, ... kind of like what is the point worrying about cholesterol, it is going to be trashed for a while.

CRP of 1 isn't bad, but try for 0.1.

Trig 1.43 mmol/l = 127 mg/dl
TC 5.46 mmol/l = 211 mg/dl
HDL 1.06 mmol/l = 41 mg/dl
LDL 3.75 mmol/l = 145 mg/dl

I've noticed that many 'natural'/herbal remedies only seem to help when Triglycerides are up. 127 isn't too bad. Try for below 100.

Years ago I tried reduced fat diet. It lowered TC 40 points. But it was 20 less LDL and 20 less HDL, so the risk ratio was worse.

As for fats, in more recent years, been buying cooking oils and butter organic because many agricultural chemicals are lipid soluble. And getting lipid soluble chemicals out of one's body is very slow and hard because the body reabsorbs fats before you can crap them out.

FDA finally conceded there’s no correlation between dietary cholesterol and blood cholesterol.
Years ago they tested with eggs (because they have plenty). The less you eat, the more cholesterol your liver make. So there are limits on these dietary measures.

Simple sugars. Fake fats. Processed foods. These all cause inflammation. Even lots of fish oil.

Any vegetable oil (except perhaps olive) will become inflammatory if you eat a lot of it. You have to eat a mix.

Look at this book if you can, "Fat and Cholesterol Don't Cause Heart Attacks and Statins are Not The Solution".

How much niacin did you take daily?

30 days of Simvastatin worked well for me after a long blast that included orals. Brought me in to normal range. Should be able to source online too. Worked for me except mine came from doc with bloodwork.

Stop letting your wife cook spring rolls! They are the tastiest things on the planet....but good damn! Eat with us more! I am a farmer who grows the best damn garlic in the country. Take advantage of it!

Get the fuck out of here with 500 mg of flush niacin. That shit hurts way to much. I took 200 mg for the first time on emtpy stomach and felt horrible. Had to jump in the shower with cold water for 30 minutes.

its the worst.
I started at 500mg and worked up to 1000mg. It’s been a few years but I think I was at 1000mg in a week or two’s time.

Hahahahaha, you get used to it. Like I said, I worked my way up to 1000.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I'll keep statins as an absolute last resort.

To being it down I think my protocol will be..
A cut.

Add Metamucil before bed.
Cut out sugars
Cardarine (10mg) okay effects on lipids.
Supplement fish oil.
Injectable B mixture
and a Niacin flush, starting a 250mg ED and working up.

I'll repeat post cycle as well.

Thanks guys

Basically eliminate sugars (inflammation)

Please be warned about niacin flushed. Have you taken it lol?

if not you are in for a treat.

imagine sun burn x 10 and then someone slapping you as hard as they can.

i didnt understand when someone said this. But full flush niacin and sunburn must hit the same receptors/nerves cause its the same feeling and my body turned red.

taking it on an empty stomach is not a good idea.
