Clothing.... that fits

Not that I am by any means huge, but with a 17" neck, 16" relaxed biceps, 45" chest, 52" shoulders and a 32" waist, when I buy a dress shirt it leaves a LOT of material on my sides making me look like a sac of potatoes.... if I buy a "slim" fit or a smaller size it fits too tight on my bi's or or my chest.
Ideally I would like to find a "athletic" fit. It's getting warm and I was sourcing for a short sleeve linen button shirt, but I cannot seem to find anything labeled as "athletic"
Anyone have suggestions?

Thx

very real problem right here. I work in an office type environment and have to dress up to a certain degree and find that I'm in the same boat as you.

I've found two avenues for proper fitting cloths.

One would be going to a 'gentlemen warehouse' type store and talk with them. Google that name, it's a mens clothing store in the north east, not sure if they have branched out to other parts of the country. This store, along with a few other stores (jos a. banks is another good one in my area), have so many types of clothing for all different types of sizes so you are guaranteed to find something that makes you look really good. This route can have a price tag attached to it but well worth it if you have the scratch. I find that I'm spending around 45/50 a shirt when I go with this option but the quality and fit is always 100% worth the cost.

the other route which is much more common for me takes a little effort but is doable. I look for slim fit shirts and will dig out a 2x or 3x and throw that bad boy on. What i find is that if the shirt is a slim fit but larger than I usually buy I will end up with a good fit. I think when you are larger/thicker in the upper body area and you fill up a longer thin fit style shirt it will raise the bottom of the shirt because of your width will take up so much room. At that point it is still a thin fit shirt but fits pretty will. The best fit that I have found is Marc Anthony Slim fit Clothing, yes like the latin singer Marc Anthony.

Without getting too much info out in the open where do you live? What general area anyway? I'll look for a store that is comparable to the stores that I mentioned above.

Hope that helps out a little...

I have a 50" chest, 18" arms and a 32" waist. Every brand runs different but I have downsized to large shirts mostly. XL shirts are too baggy in the stomach area and look sloppy. I'd rather fill out the shirt and have it be tight and form fitting than baggy

For dress shirts you have to get them tailored, really the only option. Even for dress pants I have the same issue.... 30" waist but need a 36 to fit my thighs.
For jeans I recently found that Levi's makes an athletic cut, I believe it's the 541's. They've been the perfect fit for me.
But for shirts either wear a lot of polos or date a chick that can sew

I just found a company called father and sons and they do the clean slim fit and the guys they have modeling it are pretty swole I just ordered some stuff

Oh, something cool I've seen but haven't looked into yet is a company called 'untucked'

they make shirts that are meant to be untucked at all times, they are tailored to look good and fit correctly that way. They might have big boy options...

Completely agree bro. Just had to look for a new suit for a wedding. My neck is 19", chest 53", arms 20" waist 36". Ralph Lauren was the only choice and everything had to be tailored. Had to special order a dress shirt because they didn't carry 19" neck. Having it tailored is the only way to get a good fit. Luckily my job has me wearing camos everyday otherwise I'd go bankrupt clothing myself.

I too face this problem. I'm about to cut so I think I can make it with my work wardrobe through summer... But winter bulk is going to require new clothes, no way around it.

People at work already make comment about how tight my cloths are getting. They don't carry on too much about it though, for obvious reasons.

For pants Zara has the stretchiest material known to man (thighs and ass). The tensile strength impresses me. I do keep an extra pair of pants in the trunk of my car... For when 'it' happens!

I get all my shirts tailored in Hong Kong so this is gonna be a pricey refit for me. I was there once for work years ago and scored a wicked tailor that I would just email for new shirts, I pick fabric and he ships to me. 70 bucks a pop. But I need him to remeasure me. I gotta find a way to make another work trip out of this as I'd like to go back.

Damn that's a dream deal

I just found a India [emoji1128] based company Liash.com
I purchased in he past a pair of linen pants and they custom fitted for me. They will do custom linen shirts for $35 +$10 for delivery . Not bad !
I am also going to ask for cotton dress shirts and let you know
customercare@liash.com
AShok is the name

Tailoring isn't your only option. You could stop wearing dress shirts too!
Seeing as it's a career choice for you though, tailoring is your only option. I understand wanting to look good... I had my dress uniform tailored perfectly to fit me... when o was standing. God forbid I sat down and my buttons popped off and my badges dug into my chest.

The mass of the population is fat. Clothing companies would make no money if they made clothes that fit for bodybuilders.
