Cloudy Gear When Filtered

Was hoping someone could help me out...

I recently made some DHB at 100 MG/ML with 1.5% BA 21% BB and 50/50 MCT/EO. Heated to 135 F and filtered through a .45 with no issue. It came out crystal clear. Then filtered a 2nd time through a .22 and it filtered super slow for a little bit and then eventually clogged the filter and what little bit when through was cloudy.

Hoping to fix it I attempted to filter it a 3rd time to clear it up back through a .45 but it ended up eventually clogging this filter as well and that stuff ended up being cloudy again.

Does anyone know what I did wrong? Is there anything I can do to fix it, or am I going to have to dump the whole batch?

Thanks

What brand and type of filter are you using?

Bumping this incase you or anyone missed
Oh I left you hanging. The polystyrene that those filter funnels are made of tend to melt and leach out into the brew. This can be verified by feeling the funnel and seeing if it’s sticky. If it’s sticky, it was compromised by the brew. After seeing this happen again and again, it appears that it happens when using MCT as a carrier. I haven’t seen anyone have problems with them while using grape seed oil. I started using polypropylene bottle tops and haven’t had any problems since. Before I had figured out what was going on, I did cold filter a cloudy brew with a polypropylene filter and used it for myself and didn’t have any problems with the injection.

If you don't mind me asking, what membrane filters do you use with the polypropylene housing bottle top filter that you use? I can't find any Polypropylene with PVDF or PTFE that is .22 or .2 micron
I can find a non sterile Polypropylene with a Nylon filter, but to my understanding after doing research Nylon is not autoclavable and has a melting point of only 248 degrees Fahrenheit so I don't think they can be properly sterilized? Do you have a direct link to the filters you use would be much appreciated

I hate to mention the specific filter because the one I use is a non sterile one with a nylon membrane. I have come up with a method that can bring them to an aseptic condition and it has been working without a hitch for several years now. Quite a few brewers I spoke with before going with these filters used the same ones and did nothing to improve the sterility of them and said they hadn’t had any problems. Even though these filters are not sterile, the standards used for their production gets them pretty damn close

Ok thankyou i'll follow through with using the Polypropylene non sterile nylon filters then, literally the only bottle top filters I can find that are truly compatible with Benzyl Alcohol...
Here's a link down below of some Polypropylene housed PTFE filters which are autoclavable, but I called the manufacturer and they have a 48 week lead time so maybe in the future if you're interested

Lately I've struggled with finding proper pre sterile filters.. seems most or all are out out of stock.. I've recently went back to filter papers and older style glass funnel/filter holder...
Southernlabware.com has some nice items

I'm also in the same boat, all of the bottle top filters I've been looking at are out of stock and have at least a couple of months waiting time...
I'm looking at this setup

wondering how much slower it is to filter GSO then a disposable 90mm plastic bottle top filter. I guess if it has to pass through 47mm of filter as opposed to 90mm it will take twice as long smh

I have an almost identical set up that I recently went back to from the throwaway filters threaded on to a flask..
Mine I believe takes a 54mm filter paper.. regardless I use mct.. I filter it onntje hotter side warm.. 80-100°f .. usually 80-90°f.. really helps and isn't to hot.to harm my paper.. I habe never timed it.. but I wanna say that it's not alot slower then the bigger filters.. slower yes but wasn't a huge difference in my opinion.. and the price is better.. get allt more sterile filters for my $120..
Somewhere I read where a guy was sterilizing unsterilized filters with some form of alcohol..not sure what kind.. and don't recall how he dried them.and kept them sterile until use either..
Almost 2nyears ago now I ordered the wromg papers.. they were sterile but damn close.. being this was for personal use only .. I ran 50ml of brew through.. theory was the ba would clean it some lol.. then added the 50ml back to tje unfiltered brew and continued to filter.. does this do any good?.. idk.. did I ever have any issues? No.. would I do it again for my personal use if I had no otjer option? yea probably

It has not melted... u have to reach melting point and melting point of DHB is high... if u use other solvents it will hold perfectly with no problem.. if you have another question feel free to ask.
