What do you mean carrier?

Carrier oil.

I prefer to use a sauce pan on my hot plate, with veggie oil in it. Then set my beaker in the veggie oil to heat up. It eliminates any hot spots on the beaker, and using oil takes away chance of water vapor contaminating the gear.
Could there have been anything like traces of moisture in your vials?

Nice idea Benny! I like that.. I'm definitely going to try that out. I think vapor was what made the vial content cloudy.
