oh yeah, dont uncheck taskmon.exe or Loadpowerprofile

yes..use start/run/(type) msconfig

For those services that you don't know what they are... there used to be a site that would tell you... I can't remember what it is.. but you should be able to type the name into google and probably find out what they are...

i think what phreezer means is if you dont know what it is when you open up msconfig, then write down what you're unsure of and check on google.

when you type in msconfig, after pressing "start" "run", then click the "startup" tab. there you will find everything thats going on.

have a nice day

I see. I figured he meant what he didnt say but you never know with that big goof thanks joe. Milesfan pm'd me and i am going to uncheck some stuff. CPU runs fine but it takes forever to start up and a couple of times if i have 2 windows going it runs out of resources. Nver used to do it

please tell me u don't have kazaa on your comp.

regardless though
click here --> http://download.com.com/3001-8022-10214379.html
it is the download link for ad-aware
download, install, run the definitions update and run the program.....guarantee your comp will be running very quick like "Jimmmmmy" in the special olympics.

Also go here http://toolbar.google.com/
and download the google toolbar, it provides quick web searching and blocks all popups
peace

kazaa lite is good. not affiliated @ all with KaZaa and the scumbags from BrilliantDigital.com
just make sure u run ad-aware every 2 weeks and you should be good

i've never got into IRC, can't say much about it

slow PC performance is often due to a commonly ignored piece of your computer, RAM. People will have 2.4ghz, 120gig Hard drive, Nvidia Video Card, all top notch stuff and then 64MB of RAM and wonder why their computer sucks. A $75 512MB RAM upgrade can make the world of difference. I recommend Kingston ValueRAM

I think i have 128 of memory. Where should i check to see what upgrade my cpu will accept?

assuming you did not custom build you computer, it should have a model number somewhere on the case, or if its a dell it has a service tag....give me the make and model number and I can find what is best.
128MB is pretty low....512 is ideal, you should be able to run almost anything, unless you are a trader
Personally I have 1gig of Kinston ValueRAM.....cost me $155

Thick you can go to www.crucial.com they will check your computer for you and run belarc advisor and tell you exactly what you have on your computer. you just have to know what kind of comp you have. Hope that helps
