had a bit of spare time after work the last few days

made a mould for a concrete pot plant

just smashed this 7x6 shed with a 3x4 lean to up for a fella im working with atm

we was chatting at work the other day (he had no idea i can build sheds) and he was saying he got quoted $3500 by someone to build it.. i laughed and said i can do it for nothing in 2 days if u want. i dont think he thought i was serious either lol anyway he helped me and i taught him how to do it. was a good couple days... he is stoked.. he said tomorrow at work im goin to pass u an envelope and u just take it and we never speak of it.. i said i dont want money so dont go being to generous

amy mate just sent me this, he is on a shutdown. decent bit of formwork for the inside of that pipe for a petroleum plant.. he wanted to show me because he knws i would have loved to build it. he is a young carpenter i have given alot of time when we work together. he lacked confidence in his work until i taught him to not get overwhelmed by short timelines. i always say they cant pour the concrete till we are done. and if its a few hours late and theres no mistakes thats a win. repairs take more time than neat formwork.

its funny because i remember when i used to get worried i wouldnt finish it quick enough and take short cuts only to make more delays.

my dad taught me two bits of advice when i started my trade

'you need to learn to work with urgency without sacrificng safety and quality'

'if someone comes up to you yelling and screaming listen carefully because in all that abuse there is a message'

its something that i only appreciated as i got more exprience

Just got elected as a trustee for my local union. Getting sent out to Vegas for a training at some point in the near future. Pretty stoked about it, won the election by a landslide.

So I was knocking a piece of board in over some conduits. I bent a pin out of the way, unfortunately I bent the pin towards me I stead of away from me. Well knocked my hand right into a pin, the fucker went in an at least an inch.

its a finished building but there a few really close to it that have plenty of activity going on. The city is full of cranes, wild looking.
