I cant speak about union workers but it is almost impossible to find ANY help. Was thinking about starting a thread trying to hire someone here. Atleast I know they liftSeems like everybody has alot of work right now. I know my union hall is struggling to find good help.

It seems like not very many youths are getting into the trades, and the ones that are don't have much drive. That has been my observation anyhow. It's so busy right now that if someone with experience isn't working , chances are there is a reason whyI cant speak about union workers but it is almost impossible to find ANY help. The long shoremen are the ones in the movies that have shipping containers full of flat screen tvs disappear right? It truly is an epidemic. Its the reason so many illegals come to this country. Not enough Americans to do the work. Sad but true. You hit the nail on the head...this could very well be a crisis at some point!
During our beach trip this year at Topsail Beach, I was reading the local paper and this topic was brought up by one of their writers. She talked about the huge demand out there for handy work not being met. Handy work! Not talking about remodeling, updating, etc...we're talking plumbing, electrical, deck rebuilding...the few people able to do the work don't have the time or man power to meet the demand!
I'm thinking that I would rather guide my kids to a trade school for 2-3 years before even thinking about college!
