Construction thread... Show off your work!

Ugh, yet another reason I hate concrete. I've had that happen a few times on the piping of the concrete pump. With shotcrete do you put a slick pack through the system like you do with concrete?

I know there are different terms, I guess do you prime the tubing before you put the concrete through the tube? I've had the pump operator on the concrete pump fuck up with the slick pack and have had that happen.it sucks when you already have 10+ trucks on the road when that goes down. It's awful

like we have spoke about before concrete/shotcrete/grout etc has a mind of its own and once u mix it, its game on lol we lost a whole 12 hour shift

They always know better, and they are not the ones that have to fix the mess. I have limited experience with shotcrete but will get my share of it this year. A bunch of substructure repairs topped off with it. Should be fun:rolleyes:. I will be picking your brain at some point. Thanks for sharing.

everything works in perfect conditions and only running fuck all hoses, as you know out on site conditions are rarely ideal.

to be honest with you mate u can pick my brain all you want and i will share any knowledge i can but as u knw it means fuck all till ur standing there seeing it happen.

shotcrete is so hit and miss, u can either have one of the easiest shifts and all of a sudden ur running like a mad man, hit pipes with hammer etc. personally i think shotcrete is a dangerous game. every time u start pumping theres a good chance the nozzle with clog up and expand like a baboons arse. but u can spray twice as much as dry gun in a shift with half the rebound

Hanging rigid board with another ' journeyman' today. I'm on lift lift calling out measurements. I say ' 23 and 3/16's'. He tells me his tape doesn't have those. I look very confused, then look at his tape measure it has the numbers on the one side 1/4,3/8,1/2,5/8,3/4. Apparently you don't have to learn to read a tape measure at apprenticeship shcool anymore

Lol, it's happening in the northeast as well. All of those things men should know are slowly fading away. I blame it on the demise of the boy scouts, and maybe fuel injection. And man buns, those have to be part of the issue in some way

Wiring in a local college's av system. Velcro on the data lines folks. Gotta be up to code.

Dip cup in the rack and an empty container of what used to be steak tips and veggies. Good way to spend your morning lol

4 inch rigid board shot on to deck on underside of a balcony. We got to go in last, everything in. I had 1 full 4+8 sheet out of a hundred boards. Everything else has been multiple cuts.IMG_20190204_092719.jpg

been over western australia for a week setting up formwork for a major shutdown on a mineral sand kiln.

the kiln is 90metre long and 5m diameter. have to replace all the internal cast (concrete kinda). 750 tonne of cast for the job, can only mix 1 tonne at a time. working time for cast about 32min including 8min mix time.. if you compare to concrete u think that stuff weighs 2.3tonne to a cubic metre and we get 7 cubic metre truck, so well over 15tonne per mix

ive pre-built the inlet cone for one end of the kiln, just did a dry fit in the shed so i know it will work onsite. pretty cool formwork.

Bad ass work dude!

I installed a new material today, they call it cafco board. It's pretty much a very dense roxul with a white faced paper on it. Shit is dense as fuck, hanging it on 4.5 in pins. This project is the new terminal at the San Jose airport. Got time and a half today, and tomorrow, and double time on Monday, Uncle Sam is really going to be loving me.IMG_20190215_085413.jpg

Oh I am, and it is rigid as fuck. We have to relive the back against the beams where the monacote is or the pins won't go through the board
