Construction thread... Show off your work!

Fuck that looks good!!!!
I get a half chub just looking at it.

Carpenter here as well.

Unfortunately I only do ugly work (government jobs)
Grey paint, shitty floors and fuck tons of ugly tile and absolute tons of concrete.

Would love to sink my teeth into some stuff like that.
I havnt built a bar in 4 or 5 years, building custom bars is probably my #1 favorite thing to do.
Thank man. It’s been fun for me learning some new skills. Fortunately my buddy who did the porch does this for a living and is real good at it. So I learn a lot from him.

@kap73 Jesus H Christ bro. That pic kills me : (

I'd tell you to stay out of trouble because you're a family man but I got into it with some 20 year olds on Thanksgiving, so that would make me a hypocrite. Good lord, I'm sure your good, just stay that way bro.

lol tell me about it, always changes... delays, government Inspectors that dont know shit.

I kind of still enjoy it.
I'm a construction manager now, so I dont spend as much time on the tools as I used to, but I still enjoy formwork and custom finishes.

Forming little stuff like mechanical pads... lol naw, boring.

Tried ICF with @Human_backhoe the other month, I still love trying new things, so that's a plus.
Took us a week to do the whole house, with footings.20191013_174159.jpg 20191028_140541.jpg 20191108_095900.jpg

Although, if we are being honest, was a little too easy.
We formed some nasty step footings on granite, threw some ICF on too.

Concretrle driver thought we were crazy, @Human_backhoe and I poured 60 cubic meters with just us an our wives lol.

Even after all my years, I still get a little nervous on pour days.

neat work mate, i like it.. is it hard material to install overhead? how many men do you need for comfortable install?
It's not bad one guy per lift. Only shitty part is the sprinkler guy ran his pipe way to high so it is kind of a pain In the ass to feed through

Went well actually
@Human_backhoe and I have been working together for probably 14 years (Brothers)

Our wives are hard as fucking nails too, mine got concrete in her boots, fucking melted her ankles... didnt say a WORD for the whole pour.

Got cellulitis actually lol.
Shes from the third world, so that's just Tuesday lol

@Human_backhoe s wife ran fucking 3000 feet of bar in 2 days solo. She ain't soft.

4 of us made the pour look easy.

I have the concrete fever for sure, I've done some wild pours.
I'll try and find a suspended slab i formed and poured.... down a 60 foot shaft... between 2 trains (4 foot thick slab)
No fasteners allowed on a round pour...

Wasnt allowed to use a single nail or screw to shoot to any preexisting structure.

I actually had nightmares about that pour for 3 days before I did it lol.

As for the wife hating my yelling..

we both told our wives...
During a big nasty pour... especially verticle... there is ZERO fucking time for niceties.

If I tell my wife to fucking move.... she better move.

When a full build is on the line, I ain't saying "sweetie, can you please get on the vibrator, this 2% calcium mix is stiffening up because the truck is late"

Naw...
Its
"Stick the fucking dildo to the form.. fucking NOW"

lol

I got a taste of that work while in Michigan. My favorite job was packing/installing wall pans. The actual pour made me so damn nervous I couldn't stand it! I like the dirt work involved also. I hated the cold up there though. If I'm not hunting I want it around 90 degrees. Lol.

Watch those wildfires amigo. Seems like the land down under is burning up! Had my run ins with wildfires about ten years ago. Burnt up 30,000 acres of ranchland that I had manicured into a beautiful place. Really sucked.

90 degrees would be beautiful! I have switched to spot and stalk just to keep moving and stay "warm". We hit -32 degrees Celsius already this year. With the build I have only gone for water foul this year.

Lol mine doesn't give a fuck at all. She just wants progress.

That suspended slab was fun......bomb proofing a U.S embassy over a live track with trains full of people. No nerves at all haha!

i would be very interested in seeing those photos of that job. i love seeing any kind of major construction especially one of a kind jobs..

haha yeh concrete fever is what we live for.. otherwise if there was no nerves or risk of failure we would slowly lose interest.. i always get the panic up for the quantity ive ordered.. always think fuck its using more than it should or shit that looks thicker than it should lol then at the end when i realise ive got it right i get that spring back in my step lol... then you go through the same anxiety stripping your formwork praying that you vibrated it properly and have no rat holes lol... ahhhh i love it
