Cryptowallets

It's over for trust wallet
damn, and its their own update server. insider job??

were they hit by lazarus? the same way bybit was hit earlier this year and made the own ceo sign on the biggest crypto hack ever.

4.3million seems like a low amount to the 1.5 billion they drained. and that shit happens 1 day after i recommend it thanks for sharing

edit: seems like they fixed it already

Doesn't look like it. metrics-trustwallet.com could have been registered by anybody, they likely just chose that domain name to make it look legit.
A phishing redirect has been added to the "official trust wallet extension"

anyone who ran the extension connected to the internet seems like they connected to the phising redirect. the update was pushed by trustwallet made to look like a legit update

Somebody had to gain access to a devs account to add the code, I haven't seen any evidence of an inside job yet though.

trustwallet owned by binance. its 99.99999999999999999999% a employee from trust wallet who got hacked.

binance is a way tastier target if it was a higher level inside job

Im using coinbase. Always works out for me. Just be prepared youre going to have to wait 1 to like 7-8 days for the funds to clear once you purchase crypto.
it would be in your best interest to find an intermediary wallet. buy on coinbase or whatever exchange you choose, then send to your own personal wallet. then and only then send to a vendor. do not send direct to vendor from online exchanges. they will eventually flag and block your account, sometime holding onto your money for months on end. an ounce of preventnion beats a pound of cure.

people are buying hundreds and thousands of dollars in drugs and dont want to pay an extra 17 cent to be just a little safer? smh or maybe youre just too foolish about crypto that your overpaying on gas fees and transaction taxes.

probably a stupid question, but wouldnt binance, revolut and so on be just as fine to buy from and then transfer to something like cake wallet, before sending it off to the vendor considering they all have KYC rules :)

yeah, you're just eating 2 fees instead of 1

its whatever worst case scenarion dealing with higher amounts in btc its 10-20 bucks

All starts with knowing how to obtain non kyc crypto.

I second this. I’m late to the party here but yeah there are many steps to online anonymity. As well as infinite detail. Especially when it comes to forensics. The big picture is a much better place to start with simple concepts. Then you can dial down into the details one at a time.

I wrote an article recently with high level security/privacy suggestions. It covers older as well as newer topics such as webauthN/fido2.

You can find it here

If there’s interest I’d be willing to write a deep dive into any of the topics I’ve discussed there. I’m also happy to be a useful voice to anything related to cybersecurity, software engineering, crypto and basic IT. I have decades of professional experience there.
