FAQs Customers Are Not Advertising: Why Coordinated Posting Is Not Allowed

Recent activity involving multiple newly created accounts upgrading memberships within a short period of time in order to post questions, praise, or discussion tied to a promotion has raised concerns about coordinated promotional behavior.

MESO-Rx does not prohibit criticism, complaints, or open discussion. Members are encouraged to report problems, share negative experiences, and hold sources publicly accountable. Honest feedback, including negative feedback, is essential to harm reduction.

However, there are clear limits on how promotion may occur.

Sources are not permitted to use member or upgraded member accounts as a hidden way to advertise or increase visibility.

When a source pushes or organizes customers to post praise or visibility, it creates the false impression that many independent people are speaking on their own. Even if individual posts are honest, the discussion is no longer organic once it is coordinated, and disclosure does not fix that problem.

This includes directing or encouraging customers to create accounts, upgrade memberships, or post in a source thread to ask about promotions, discounts, availability, or otherwise draw attention to a source. Using customer activity as a substitute for advertising is not allowed.

Incentivized reviews are different because they involve one person’s opinion rather than manufactured consensus.

When a member receives something in return such as a refund, discount, free product, store credit, or other compensation, that relationship must be clearly disclosed so readers can judge the opinion appropriately. Incentivized posts are only acceptable when the incentive is fully disclosed. Posting on behalf of a source without disclosure violates forum rules.

These practices undermine transparency, distort how community feedback appears, and weaken the value of harm-reduction discussions.

Source threads exist for accountability and open scrutiny, not for coordinated marketing or manufactured visibility.

All sources and associated parties are expected to avoid these practices going forward and to ensure that participation on MESO-Rx remains transparent, organic, and consistent with forum guidelines.
