Cycling injuries

Things are going well now finally. A couple of weeks after the hematoma, I had a front wheel puncture on a corner, lost control and ended up on the ground with two sprained clavicles. It's not easy to do but I did it. I'd say I'm 98% healthy now :)
Ever think about a more “rural” route for your cycling? The front 75% of your post reinforces my desire for a “do not like” option. But being 98% healthy deserves a like.

@Millard I’m just seeing this now and trust you’re completely healed up? Looks like you got off easy, comparatively. Was it a low speed crash?

Yes! It took almost 2 months for the swelling to completely go away -- and about the same amount of time to recover my confidence taking corners. It was a moderate speed crash on flat. No aggressive lines or anything. It took me by surprise.

I have to admit that I was a little concerned for a few weeks afterwards. My doctor assured me that it was just a hematoma (albeit more serious than any I've previously experience) and the ultrasound confirmed. But my leg remained deformed for so long! At its worst, the circumference increased over 2-1/2 inches.

Fortunately, I am completely healed now.

Sure looked nasty before and the bruising all gone now? With something that large, it would take some time for all that blood trapped to be re-absorbed by the body. I had something like that once ages ago and almost as nasty.

The low(er) speed crashes tend to cause more lasting injury. I’ve had those before but the majority of my injuries have been abrasions/burns due to higher speed crashes. If you could see my knees and elbows... they’d tell some stories.
