Was just wondering what you guys use your norm is you see every one using the bar at the gym etc but yet I see jay cutler using the bells and being totally honest I get a much better burn on my lower back using the dumbells is there any bad affects of using bells vs bars?

Yes see I'm into body bodybuilding not powerlifting etc so it's more about if it gets the job done f it lol

Conventional deads you should use a bar. RDL's and SLDL's use a bar too, but you can occasionally do some dumbbell stiff legged's or Romanians from time to time.

If your goals are purely bodybuilding then there are better movements to focus on than the conventional deadlift. That doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't incorporate them, but do them the way god intended. With a bar.

Yer I still do them with the bar etc but just wanted to see if dumbells was ok too haha :) bloody hate doing deadlifts not my thing at all

A lot of the bodybuildes say if you do them don't lift to heavy as it makes your waist wide or something like that

Nope honestly not my kind of thing I'm a short arse short legs and short arms and just don't enjoy it at all Lol!

I see you are trying to deal with the bad genetic hand God dealt you and I feel your pain. Short people can make gains faster than taller people so take comfort in that. I have rather long legs and longish arms on a short torso and it can be a bear with benching o_O

The bar is the way to go though.

deadlifts are the shit! only problem i have right now is ripping off the floor when i have straps on. im fine with out straps but once i throw them on i lose a good 30 lb :/

My gym has a Texas DL bar. The first month or more I used it. I fucking hated it, but once I got the technique down. I actually added weight to my pull. You have to kinda get the slack out of the bar first. If that makes since. Point being, if you have access to one it may make the lift more enjoyable for you. After all the DL is really the king of lifts. Or at least that is my opinion. Not wanting to offend anyone.

Had a lifting buddy with the same problem. He changed the way he wrapped the straps. Try to think of a barber shop poll stripes instead of a roll of tape. Hope that makes since. He said that changing it let him crush the bar with his grip more and it lined everything out. Don't know if that is the problem for you or not. Just looking to help out if I can.

Really? That seems to be almost contradictory. Why not just not use straps?

yeah im pretty sure i use them that way, i think my issue is that i am used to practicing with out the bar then riping off the floor, and i cant do that with straps ill have to just get used to it as i go up in weight thanks for the advice
