Deadlifts and hemorrhoids?

So deadlift Tuesday I did 6 working sets of 6-8 reps each. Near the end I felt a small tickle in my ass, but no pain.

No problems at all on Wednesday with light squats (bad knees) and bench.

Thursday no workout, pain sitting at the office right where I felt the tickle, not too bad, though.

Friday no workout, and left work early. Barely able to sit on the toilet. Late Friday 102 deg fever.

Saturday ER visit. Diagnosis after EVERYONE looked at my ass was thrombosed hemorrhoid. I was sent home with some useless skin ointments and pain pills. Later Saturday 102.7 deg fever, confusion, couldn't urinate at all. Couldn't even look at food.

Sunday ER visit. Abscess surgery, and a fun night in the hospital. It bothered me a little that so many people there remembered me from my stay last year. I don't know why. It didn't bother me they brought in a group of RN students to look at the doc's work and discuss proper care. Could barely keep from laughing laying there on my side while they talked and the nurse probed. Sometimes pain is a good thing.

It's Tuesday, and I'm mostly back to normal with just a little continued bleeding. The doc told me this injury is very common!? He also said another day and I might have needed to wear a bag the rest of my life. I never ever heard of this, and it freaking terrifies me! So I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience??

Holy shit! Never had that experience, but it definitely has my attention! When you think about the mechanics and the amount of force/exertion it kinda makes sense. Hope you have a speedy recovery Flense.

Damn, that has to be quite a rough experience. I've had really bad hemorrhoids before...even heavy bleeders but never got a fever. Never got them from doing deads or squats.

Did you get some sort of infection that appears to be hemorrhoid like?

Here's to a quick recovery Flenser...you'll pull through this!

Was it the abscess going untreated that would've caused the permanent bag? The thought of that happening is disturbing.

Yea, the infection was really bad. The abscess doubled in size in less than 24 hours. It's possible the doc was trying to impress/scare me as well, as if I could have been more afraid than I already was.

I’m actually glad someone brought this up. I feel like this is a topic that should be discussed as it happens to many of us. It’s happened to me multiple times from breathing wrong.

Warm baths for 20-30 mins a few times a day will work wonders on your butt friends. Just sayin.

It was a hemorrhoid that developed a blood clot and got infected.

Thanks man. Pretty sure I'll be lifting again in a week, maybe not deadlifts though!

Ouch...good thing you went to the ER and got it taken care of. Hemorrhoids can and will get infected if not dealt with.
