Decent book a necessity?

I'm trying to take a cautious approach to what I take. So far I've only used 'var and considering Primo. But I'm finding that most of the advice out there seems to give little information on the details of side effects and how the drugs work in general. People seem to be happy only with anecdotal evidence of guys growing bitch tits and the like. Most of the drug profiles on websites talk about differences in the result of using drug X or Y but give little explaination as to what the chemical composition differnce is between the two and why one gives a different phsyiological effect. It took me ages to figure out that Deca actually involves 3 hormones; Test, Oestrogen + Proges', which is why the side effects can't be blocked with anti-oestrogens (which I also don't know why work).

I need a source of information that gives enough info for me to make an informed choice without blowing on about the dangers while at the same time not going on about how this or that drug gives a 'hard look' and other fuzzy statements without backing up what it says.
Also, what is toxicity? How does this damage the body? Is it just the liver? Are any injectables totally untoxic?

As an example, by looking through a medical drug book I found that 'var levels peak in the blood after 30-90 minutes and that ~30% is excreted in urine. So if you drink your own piss you can save some money! ;) This sort of info I've never seen on any website. To this end I'm considering buying a steroid book.

If I was going to buy a steroid book which one is considered the best? 40 is alot of money to me so I have to make the right choice first time.

My worry is that I spend 40 on a book only to find it full of mostly unbroken text, anacedotal evidence and little clear explaination as to how the drugs work. That it may say "keep usage low" or "This one's strong so watch for side effects" but not saying why a drug is considered this way.

Im pretty sure that ANABOLICS 2004 is what you are looking for... It lists practicly every drug out there and gives you a page long description on how it works, how to take it, and some other info... its by far the best book ive ever come accross in regards to waht you are looking for. That and just stay on the boards a while... join a few... like this one, or AR and soak up the info you require from some of the very informed mods or vets. Hope that helps you,

Might as well pick up a merk index too :-)
oh, and a current PDR... then just do research on Pubmed( http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi )

The reason there isn't a lot of good mechanistic info about AAS is because relatively little research is done in the area of AAS. There are no books out there that will be completely comprehensive, and the information in those books is solely based on the research in studies you'll find doing a pubmed search. If you really are interested in understanding how things work, read the pubmed articles, which will force yourself to become better acclimated with the terminology.

As for AAS mechanism, there are really two main factors:
1) Binding affinity for the AR (the stronger the AR affinity, the more androgenic the compound, generally)
2) nongenomic actions, which are far less well-understood.

read the articles in the meso articles section for some very good information..

If you actually have more specific questions that aren't commonly talked about on the boards, by all means, post it. The same old topics do get titesome, and seeing a little more advanced stuff will reinvigorate a lot of people and get people's minds going again. Some boards really cater to the more scientific aspect of things (or have subforums that do so), but not everyone wants things at that level, so the usual vernacular is in more digestible terminology

Just pay attention to whatever Einstein says :)... Who needs a book when you got him! lol

lata,

oh, btw, einstein... did you get my PM over at AR?

well, you can learn a lot just by reading bunches of bodybuilding info. from your post it seems like youre probably in the beginning of research but i dont know how in depth you really want to know. i mean, its one thing to understand what dht is and how it acts but its another thing to understand WHY dht might do something. but basically, if you just read then in due time most questions you will be able to figure for yourself.

Einstein, Pm me when the book is ready.Ill buy it as long as you dont ask for more than 50 bucks.Seriously bro.I thought Rex Feral was the best until i met you here.
