I like to follow the old saying what built the muscle will keep it there. Use your weight training to keep the muscle there keep the reps in the 6-10 range.
Sure doing more reps might expend more calories but why not just do more cardio are eat less cal, you need to be training heavy and hard to retain youre muscle remember the more muscle you have the higher your metabolic rate.
