Do anti-depressants effect your steroid gains??

I was wondering what you all thought was the best anti-depressant in terms of least side effects mainly erection problems, and if they would have any negative impact on steroid usage...I have heard good things about LexaPro...and a little about effexor, I would appreciate any opinions, thanks

Wellbutrin does not give erection problems. I think it is pro-sexual as a matter of fact. It is for depression only. It can exasperate anxiety if one is prone. I am taking it with test and var with no problems.

my girl stopped taking Lexapro because of the sexual side effects. She switched to Wellbutrin just for that reason and has no problem at all in that department. Bj

I was on PaxilCR and had NO sex drive even while on 500mg. week of test. I was switched to Welbuterin and have had no problems so far. My lil' soldier can salute again. :)

I hope this is not taken as a flame (it is not my intention). When a qualified professinal is selecting a med for depression the first point is to identify the symptoms that are problematic. Different anti-dep. do different things, at different places and with different neurotransmitters. For example wellbutrin would not be a good chioce for some with an aggitated depression, similiary drugs that would make soemone tired would not be a good choice for a person with a vegitative depression. You always take "sides" into account b/c you don't want to create a new probelm and also for the purpose of compliance. Before looking at sides you need to understand what drugs may work for your symptoms and then assess the symptoms in comparison to the sides.
Just a side note- you also need to relaize that some psychotropics are toxic to the liver and so is juice. Also take a look at what gear you are currently using as that may be a contributing factor. What are you taking?

I take Zoloft and have no probs with getting a boner, It just take me forever to blow a load. It doesnt effect my gains in any way.

lexapro is pretty good as far as being able to climax, get wood and not really inhibit your sex drive - BUT it is metabolized in the liver, so if you're taking orals, you might want to consider that as well

i've tried effexor in the past and would not recommend it to anyone - hated that shit - could never get off no matter how long i tried and had a lot of other side effects as well

go for the lexapro

wellbutrin promotes anxiety so i would never suggest that

My only experience is with Wellbuterin. I had no problem at all while on.
I think a lot of us would feel a lot happier on Wellbuterin during a cycle. It seems to really help me control my temper.
I'm normally a even tempered guy, but with large doses of Test and Tren, even I start to lose my mind much too easily
Also I found no sex sides.

Still that Horny Old Graybass

Well said moralanimal. I have anxiety problems so I would never take anything that's for the treatment of depression, not unless I wanted to stay up all night pacing the floor wondering if I was going to die, or some weird shit like that.

PEACE

[I self proscribed Prozac to myself and feel great. No problems with erections but it takes longer to ejaculate. I also take Tren so I now add test at 1000 mg cyp and it all works out fine.

Oh yes, I am not a source but found some great INdian sites for
Finastride and Prozac generics. DIRT CHEAP.

As I have said before- meds are not the first line of defense against depression- therapy is. It is longer lasting, prevents relapse (meds don't), and for mild to moderate cases can be completed in 8 to 10 sessions with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This is faster then meds as most of the initial relief felt by meds are due to placebo effect and residual effects (e.g. Wellbutrin increasing energy giving relief to a vegitative depression). If the onset of the depression is recent seek a doctorate level psychologist who utilizes CBT (ask their theorietical orientation).

Also try reading Burns - "Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy" it may save you a few bucks over therapy.

AAS, low carb diets and certain stimulants, contribute to depression and anxiety. If you are feeling these symptoms do not use bodybuilding drugs.

SSRIs and other drugs can be effective. Be warned that during the initial stages of drug therapy anxiety and depression can get worse. Furthermore when coming off make sure to do it very gradually by reducing doses slowely.

I've cycled through a few SSRI's before settling on escitalopram (Lexapro). It has been the "cleanest," by far, over Prozac, Celexa, Zoloft (don't even bother with Paxil!).

I'm assuming this is for therapeutic purposes for depression related symptoms and/or anxiety.

I would NOT recommend using SSRI's during a cycle to "take the edge off" the aggression from AAS. Some very common side effects of SSRI's might work against the program you've hopefully set for yourself for maximum gains (some of which appear to be dose-dependent). These include: poor quality of sleep, excessive cravings for carbohydrates, lethargy, BF% increase, gastro-intestinal problems (poor digestion, bloating, constipation). In this case, sexual sides may be the last thing you might want to worry about.

Your mileage will vary, of course.
