Does lowering bodyfat has a positive effect in natural Free testosterone?

I am a high total testosterone guy (800-1000) but low free testosterone 10-12 pg/ml (6-42). I wonder if lowering my body fat to 12-15% would have a significant effect on the free test marker.

Well You didn't say what your current BF% is. What is it?

I don't knownig it woukd have an effect on free T. Depending in your current level you might see a reduction in aromatase, leading to lesd E2 conversion which then could increase free T upstream.

In that case you're going to see loads of health benefits from cutting down to the 12-15% range, or even 15-20%. I would definitely try to cut down to a healthier level and I would definitely expect it to increase free T to some extent, likely via less aromatization.

I don't know the answer. It should raise overall testosterone, but free? I am posting only to follow the thread.

I do have an off topic question, which you can ignore if you want, but why would you not want to cut? Are you competing in a sport where extra mass if any sort (inertia) is an advantage, like some of the strongman lifts?

Generally speaking lowering your calories below maintenance will increase your SHBG and will in turn lower your free test. This isn’t a hard and fast rule but is typically what happens. It’s still obviously a very good idea to lower bf
