forget the sulmanella(spelling) issues for a minute. does drinking raw egg whites render the same benefits as cooked? or drinking egg beaters from a carton? i have heard that cooking them makes the protein more digestable. something about denatured or something. can anyone expound on this?

From personal experience, it seems that drinking raw egg whites (pasteurized) is more easily digestible that cooked egg whites.

the salmonilla is not even actually in the whites, it is on the shell of the egg...if you take care not to ingest eggwhites that have touched the outside of the shell it will decrease your chance of getting sick...I personally think it is gross, but I have a friend that eats them raw all the time...

fyi- the reason there is salmonilla on the shell is that the hole the eggs come out of is right next to the anus of the chicken

raw egg whites can destroy biotin in the gut, though i think you would need to eat a lot of them to have any serious deficiency.

"Easier to digest" is relatively unimportant unles you have some malabsorbsion syndrome, your gut might take a bit longer to digest a boiled egg, but digest them it will
