Dutasteride/Avodart?

I'm currently using proscar @5mg/day. I can't honestly say it's any better than 1mg/day. The bigest difference is the loss of sex drive. The results are tough to evaluate because there hasn't been any new hair growth. On the flipside I haven't seen any hairloss either. Anyways I did a search for dutasteride and didn't see much. I was wondering if anyone here has any newer updates as to weather I should ante up and spend the extra money for dutasteride/avodart (expensive). I'm gearing up for a heavy AAS cycle and was wondering if this would provide better protection against hairloss. If anyone is currently trying it and if it's worth it.

This drug has been a touchy subject for hairloss maniacs since it came out. In theory, it should be much better than proscar, but in the real world, you have people who love it or hate it. Reason being is that a lot of people are claiming that it actually worsened their situation, mainly at the hairlines. Again on paper this makes no sense, because it wipes out so much more DHT than proscar, but in GSK's first abstract release on this drug before its approval, they never mentioned that it raises scalp testosterone by 124% and also spikes the leutinizing hormone as well. After the release of the drug, this was updated.
As far as I have found, the only research paper to focus strictly on frontal hair loss implicates testosterone just as much as DHT, so that would make avodart a potentially dangerous drug, since it seems to almost target scalp tissue.
But to be fair, there are almost as many people saying its better than propecia, but not by all that much.
And almost everyone has complained of some side effect, whether its a hit to the libido, weight retention in the face, weak workouts, or flabby gain in the middle.
I personally, regret using it, but thats just me. If you suffer from hairline loss, I personally would not reccomend it, but if you just have loss on the crown, maybe its a step up from propecia. And also, I see you raised from 1 to 5 mg of proscar. Studies show you won't grow much more by raising single daily doses. I would suggest dropping back to 1mg, 2x a day because of the seven hour half-life.
Lastly, the main researcher studying avodart for hairloss, who originally hyped the shit out of it before it was ever even released, was quoted last month more or less downplaying her original statements, if that means anything.

Thanks for the info. That's more feedback than I've gotten from anybody else. My hairloss is mostly a receeding hair line so it is probably best that I dont mess with it. The high dose of proscar (5mg) is because I get it so cheap in 5mg tabs. The dutasteride is so damn expensive...glad for the heads up!
