Anybody else go to the gym first thing in the morning?

I'm needing to know if I can do a usual PreWO meal (25-40 g protein shake, 5g creatine, and fruit) first thing and then go workout. Then go home and eat my usual PostWO meal (40g protein shake, 5g creatine, 6 rice cakes and more fruit)
Then carry on with my regular meals every 3 hours shooting for 500-600 clean calories?

My schedule has changed and now I need to be able to go to the gym around 0500.

I'm about to switch to mornings due to my schedule too. Would like to hear about the sunject, I'm not much for eating early, is that potentially a problem?

Depending on if you are cutting or bulking you will have to tweak the cardio and diet some.I like to lift first thing.I will slam big protien drink and two packs oatmeal then lift..then go home and eat huge breakfast..your metabolism will crank up early and fast this way making you hungry all day..the only problem is about 2 pm I get very tired.
Mankong..yes this is a problem..you have to wake up and eat huge to grow and gain..unless you are wanting to lose weight and drop body fat % then go to gym on empty stomache and eat afterwards.I could never lift without eating first..no energy sucks for me

That's all fucked up brother. I used to go first thing in the morning but i was there at 10 o'clock so i had all the time to eat 2 meals before i go train.

40grams of Whey in full fat milk, 5 grams of creatine and like 50-100 grams of simple+complex carbs would probably do the trick. Have a nice cup of coffee as well.

Wrong, you just fucked up your insulin sensitivity.
Drop the coffee and the full fat milk.

Epinephrine, a potent inhibitor of insulin actions, is increased after caffeine ingestion.
Its been pr oven in studies to be a fact.

Caffeine-induced impairment of glucose tolerance i...[J Appl Physiol. 2002] - PubMed Result
Caffeine may reduce insulin sensitivity
Caffeine Can Decrease Insulin Sensitivity in Humans -- Keijzers et al. 25 (2): 364 -- Diabetes Care

Don't ingest any fat containing foods{such as full cream milk} , before or within a few hours after your workout, it reduces absorption speed of your meals{sugars} decreasing insulin response.
Also any hopeful insulin response you do get, will nicely shuttle the fat into storage.
Just doing its job.
Eat just sugars carbs and protein.
Then when well clear of training periods,go back to your fats and drop the sugars.

Your question is some what confusing ,as you say you'll be changing your workout time to 5 pm,yet you want to continue your preworkout meal of protein/fruit,then continue your post workout meal and meals there after at 3 hour intervals,
Will you be staying up all night to eat your daily calcoric requirements?

If not , you should just continue your routine meals throughout the day, then have your regular preworkout/post workout meals.

Sorry, I'm military so I write 0500 instead of 5 am.

I meant 5 am. Those are the days I go to the fire station, the other days I work out in the afternoon.

Thank you for your response and the extra info!!! :D
