Ectomorphs chime in here.

Ok honestly ive tried many routines iver the years and have got some results but this time around im REALLY obsessed about it. Now that work and life is super stable ive been so happy to get shit done in the gym, its really weird, i never want to leave the gym once i get there. The wife goes with me and she'll get done with her cardio, (she has shedded 29 pounds!)

So anyway im Ectomorph, what are some peoples crazy routines that gave them the most size with their ecto body types? Im looking to bodybuild not powerlift.

Ive got the diet in place, im just wondering if its still a hypertrophy routine, too failure routine, high reps, low reps etc.

Like i said yes ive tried alot of them over the years but now at 44 is obviosly different. Right now im just doing a upper body and lower body EOD.

I like to keep my body guessing by incorporating some different lifts week to week. I also change from drop sets, half reps, paused reps, and I also have a heavy day with low reps and a light day with higher reps in that same week.

I'm an ecto. I'm not big anymore because I choose not to be at 49. It's just too much work in the food dept. I now enjoy about 4,000 calories a day and stay around 215 instead of constantly feeling like a stuffed pig trying to grow bigger. Food is the key for an ectomorph. Much, much more food than the other guys. They are jealous since we can eat anything we want, while keeping the protein high enough, and not get fat. All the while we are miserable from eating so much and barely gaining a pound or two on a gram and a half cycle.

I also found that my routines worked better with fewer sets and moderate reps with heavy weight and good, basic compound exercises. I also found 4 day splits to work best for me. It allowed the body parts to never become over trained so my body always felt stressed after a workout. I do change things up a bit with drop sets, half reps and pauses as stated above but for the most part still keep total reps low but intense with heavy weight. Ecto's need to save calories and not burn them through cardio type routines. Heavy, basic movements till your limbs are about to fall off seem key.

These are my opinions and suggestions only. Others mileages may vary.
 
Deadlifts. Deadlifts. Deadlifts. And then some more deadlifts.
Squats.
Overhead press.
Barbell rows.
Bench press.
Weighted dips.
Weighted chin ups.
Barbell curls.

This is basically all i do, everything else fails to yoeld results for me. I keep ot simple. I lift as heavy as i can all the time, but squats are the one lift i cant push it as my knees get fawked bad past a certain weight point. So for those i do way hogher reps at lower weight. But deadlifts? Fuck ya, fuck ya, until my arms are popping out of the sockets and im having a stroke. Never make it past 5 reps, if i do, i aint lifting heavy enough.

Im hardcore ectomorph. Tiny ass bone frame also, like a 10 year old chinese girl.

Also for me, diet wise, i wont grow until i hit 500g of carbs a day, minimum. My favorite carb sourc, the one that i feel makes me grow the best? Jasmine rice, soaked in shark brand sriracha. Dont get rooster brand, that stuffs awful, shark brand all the way baby. Most grocery stores only stock rooster, i get my shark brand from an asians food specialty store. Love that shit.

I know guys are like "brown rice For the win" fuck that, brown rice doesnt give me jack. Gotta be jasmine. I dunno what it is about jasmine rice but i feel it better than any other carb source i use. no other rice gives me that feeling. Jasmine rice if you were a women id marry yo sweet white ass.

What's your current hieght, weight, and bodyfat?
 
When I was in highschool I was 6'3 and a 160lb twig running cross and swimming, I ate insane ammounts of food and took creatine and could never gain anything. 160lb was my prime and lets keep in mind I swam 6hours a day for miles. Out of school I ate a lot of trash and got fat, I started working as a roofer and found that I was getting big. My discovery for ectomorphs? Lift heavy, fuck form, focus on doing a heavy ass wait for 6-10reps. I got sick natty gains from lifting heavy and doing loads of cardio lifting every weekday on top of roofing and only taking the weekend off. I did this platue'd and then tapered to a work out that focused on EOD training minimum cardio and isolation of muscle groups. I got more natty gains doing this and in the middle of doing this my dumbass decided to throw dbol in the mix which brought me more natty gains. Now I'm going to repeat this and get those taper gains followed by gear gains. ECTOs need the TAPER. My ecto weight timeline 2012 160lbs 5%bf 2014 - 2015 went up too 190 20%bf 2016 205lbs 12%bf natty 2017 225lbs 14% bf post gear. I went from being a twig, to being fat, to being a beast.
 
Diet is also important I used to think that I could eat anything and as much calories as possible. Nope! you will shit those garbage cals out and get no gains from them, you need to eat 3000-5000cals daily and it cant be shit food, no chips, no fast food, no junk food, need 2x body weight in protein, over a gallon of water in you each day, and all your macros. Diet alone will help you grow better then training.
 
Workout routine thoughts? solid?
here is the link to my taper workout that I had done natty and also on gear. Now if you can read chinese my Pre taper workout I did for months is scribbled on the piece of paper attached to this post. Keep in mind I was doing this workout working a 10-12hour day as a roofer. Overtraining? there is no such thing for an ectomorph. If you have the proper diet and get sleep you will heal, if you take gear you will heal better.
