Fast pace reps??

Ok, so I was just watching some videos of Cutler and Coleman training and I couldn't help put notice the speed at which they do their reps. I always thought (and got told) that you needed a slow tempo of 2 sec - 2 sec to maximize, now I see champs do 1-1. Did I miss something? I mean, they (Coleman, Cutler, etc) can't be wrong about how they train. Or is it because, at the level they are, it doesn't really matter anymore?

Could somebody share some light on that please?

This is a good question, my understanding is to push as much weight as you can with decent form to failure and beyond. Thats how they train, now the older less advanced people and women train the way you say because there is less chance of injury and easier.

I have trained both ways and there is no question as far as im concerned your muscles get taxed more training the way Coleman, Cutler do. Heaver weights mean more stress = more muscle.

I'd agree that the 1:1 Pro way is more beneficial for what they are aiming for. That movement is much more explosive and taxing on the muscle fibers especially the fast twitch.

I'd also agree that the 2:2 method would be better for a novice or elderly population learning their way around a weight room and learning their bodies.

But what works for some doesnt work for others. Experiment with your tempo and weight/reps to see how your body reacts.
