I was just wondering if any of you guys like literature? Do any of you have a favorite work of fiction? And why is it your favorite? I promise that I won't be critical; I just want to know what kind of fiction you guys like.

Ill start the ball rolling. My favorite novel is Huck Finn. It reminds me of my boyhood. :)

My favorite author is Nelson DeMille (General's Daughter, Plum Island, etc). Incredible storyteller and really pulls you in.

My favorite series is now the Left Behind series by Tm LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins.

Bob, I haven't read Nelson DeMille. I have read a few books in the Left Behind series. I plan to read the whole series. My brother in law has them all. Next time I go to the library I will look up Nelson DeMille.

That is what I'm looking for in this thread, some good reads.

Michael Crighton would have to be my favorite, don't read a lot of fiction, I like Timeline and Eaters of the Dead was very interesting.

I tried reading Jurassic Park and one other Crighton novel, but they were freakin boring as hell.

Rod, Ive read through the first 7 books in the Left Behind series in about the past 4-5 weeks.

As for DeMille, I really liked Plum Island. Gold Coast is cool, as it deals with morons from Long Island as well as the mafia.

Maybe you should try Timeline or Eaters of the Dead. Does molecular transportation interest you? Or what about wars between Vikings and ape/manlike creatures. What I like about Crighton, though fiction, lots of the information in his books are based on scientific fact, and are well researched.

Ive tried reading Tom Clancy too. He bores me to death. Id rather slit my wrists with a rusty spoon.

I have everything Dean Koontz has ever written....love all his books.

Dean Koontz is really good. He can tell a really good story. I have sat up all night reading his books. Plus he can make you long to live in his description of California.

Yes he is very descriptive....he also uses alot of the same things in his writing...there is always a bottle of Remy Martin around somewhere....main characters where Rockports.....and he loves retrievers and labradors.

I am going to have to give Michael Crighton a try. Thanks Dolf. :)

Rod I think you would like Eaters of the Dead best.

That would be carl..his leonard influence is clear as they are both from Florida but he is without a doubt the funniest author I have read and every one of his books is a best seller.

Carl has been writing for the Miami Herald for a long time.

I recommend Double Whammy, Skin Tight, Stormy weather and Sick Puppy...in that order.

They are breezy reads and everyone I know thats read him..loves him.

Dave Barry is also cut from the same mold and gets his ispiration from Leonard.

DeMille is just a master story teller.
