Gentleman, for those that have either of these 2 filtration devices or similar, do you mind sharing your feedback regarding them? Both positives and negatives.

I'm really torn between the above or bottle top filters, screw top media bottles, and septa top caps.

Where did you find these? They seem perfect. How would one go about capping the media bottle after filtration, and then filling individual vials?

@Jax Jaximus, I found these on Ali. After filtering you would put something similar to a septa top cap on the receiver, draw through it and fill your vials. I was looking for some feedback but as you can see, nothing yet.

Slow down slow down, hang on I made a good post about buchner filtration systems little buddies, hold your horses, there's questions you need to ask yourselves before even wanting to use a buchner K. First off, there's a couple different types of systems, Buchner filtration apparatuses with a filter base thats PTFE faced, (what supports your membrane filter, and there's stainless steal. What one should ideally choose depends on there REALISTIC ABILITY TO PROPERLY CLEAN, AND SANITIZE THE CHOSEN BASE.

Opti that's a beast , you gota let me know how that goes for sure

How have you been @acee? It's been a minute!

I will let you know how it works out, trial and error.;)

@BuiltBig, do you have any experience with the following? Any feedback? This is the membrane support.

Who am I talking to right now?
That was some good stuff you were smokin' last night huh?;):D

Lol, good one bud hahaha, to be honest I was waiting to see if it was going to worth the time answering all this, anyhow, you posted a link you called "the following"... Links broken or doesn't show anything. Mean time to save me some time let me see of I can find the post I had made.... What are you interested in though?

@BuiltBig, it is just the picture of the membrane support that goes between the funnel and receiving flask.

I just want to get away from the syringe filters as it is to time consuming and hard on the thumbs.:D

Bottle tops are faster than syringe filters and work great and are pretty cheap. The filter you pictured here is a step above bottle too fikters but also more costly. If you can afford it it will work very good just use the right membrane for yor needs

Honestly like doc said, unless your going to be doing a lot of filtering, I would suggest just purchasing bottle top filter units that youd simply attach to a media bottle... And that's if you are able to even efficiently sterilize the media bottles... Zapcaps are good bottle top filters to go with, and can filter a lot of Gear. Whats your set Up looking like or what is it your trying to achieve exactly?

I appreciate your responses @Docd187123 and @BuiltBig. I have looked into bottle top filters and they are fairly inexpensive. Where do you normally get yours? MedLabSupplies?

TBH with you, no. I will not be doing much filtering, strictly personal but finally want a nice setup that I do not have to be standing over the entire filtering process. I did some #'s and after filtering a few compounds the start-up costs are well worth it and filter membranes are cents on the dollar.

BTW, the filter membranes that I'll purchase if I go w/this setup are 'sterile nyl0n membr@ne f1lter 47mm 0.22um'.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

IMO, if you're only brewing for personal use then bottle tops are fine. I can filter 250ml of solution in less time than it took me to use a syringe filter for 10ml of solution lol.

Whatever setup you go with get a glass media jar. Some filter units come with a plastic receiver. Junk it and use a glass one. I have 500ml Hybex media jars. They work fine.

How can I sterelize that support from picture? I think that is glass filter?

LOL, 250ml vs 10ml, hmmmm.......main reason why I'm looking at something a little more efficient.:)

Oh yeah, I've read horror stories regarding those plastic receivers. I'm not trying to go through that, that's for sure.

Those Hybex Jars look nice, but damn 500ml?;) I was thinking along the lines of 200-250ml! Haha What is your preference regarding bottle top filters?
