First time, Is this normal?

Hey guys and gals,

Just brewed up some gear using syringe filtering. While I was filtering, on my second 20ml vial, all the sudden it felt like the filter just evaporated, all the resistance went away.

I drew the oil back out, threw on a new filter, and got a new vial. The rest of the run went good as far as I can tell. But after inspecting my second filter, there’sa small portion that looks to be “washed out” I did maybe 60ml with this filter and kept the pressure down as I was using a caulking gun. I kept it to just below a stream, fast drips, with HOT Mct oil.

Anyhow, below is a picture of the filter in question. Any tips or advice welcome. The part that looks washed out is from 0 to 30 degrees.

Don't use HOT mct oil. Use piss warm mct oil. That's your issue. You blew our your first filter and looks like you may have fucked up the second one

Good to know, it was clocking in at 200 degrees lol. Well I’ll run the oil, see what happens.

I should say, by the time I got around to the second filter, it has significantly cooled. Can I apply as much pressure as I want? Was it only heat that caused this?

Syringe filtering should be rather difficult, requiring a significant amount of pressure applied. That’s why people use caulking guns and what not.
So if it seemed really easy, then yes, you blew out your filter.

I was using a caulking gun, I think next time I’ll use less pressure and heat

Be very careful. Caulking gun can pop a filter easily. It should go at a pace where you feel like.... Are you fucking kidding me, this is going to take forever. And then when you give it too much pressure the filter blows out

Thanks for the tips y’all, I ended up injecting the oil last night. No pip, no inflammation, no redness. Pretty sure I didn’t blow the second filter, but it was damn close.

I’ll be sure to just let the oil dribble out. I was fillling 20ml vials With a strong stream with hot oil. lol.

I’m kinda bummed I learned these mistakes with primo, I lost about 70$ In raws from the oil that got wasted. Should of tried test first , live and learn though!

I should add, I used to get pip with my tren/mast/test slurry, but I replaced the mast with primo and no pip at all, I’m very pleased. I can’t wait for my China vials to come next month and I’llbrew up some test/deca too

How many ml can I expect from a filter? I’m using usp filtered Mct Oil to start with. What will happen, the oil just will quit flowing? Slow down rapidly? How do you know when it’s time to change filters?

Here’s the finished oil, they’re all crystal clear. I did get oil everywhere when the filter suddenly disconnected from the syringe, Lmao… I didn’t want to strip the filter, I will make sure it’s tight Next time again, this accounted for some of that 70$ loss

Is there any way to save the vial that I blew the filter with? Could I bake it for an hour or two at 350? I’ve read That’s a way to sterilize, but not sure if it matters that there’s trace amounts of oil inside already. Would I need to vent it with a needle?

@Jet Labs
Hope you don’t mind the tag, but I’ve read a ton of solid advice from you over the last few months.

No, you can not heat a finished vial to sterilize it. It drives me nuts seeing that still float around. If you were to heat it enough to sterilize it you'd destroy the hormone and the stopper. Just refilter it. Sealed Vials are like $4 on eBay.

I wouldn't go past 100ml on a syringe filter

I think he's talking about the vial itself not the hormone in the vial.

That’s correct, I have an “empty” vial, the vial that I blew the filter membrane into. I drew all the oil out that I could get, and re filtered into a new vial.

My question was, can this used vial, that’s no longer sterile, I HAD injected oil into, then removed, still be sterilized? I don’t care if I destroy a few drops of primo that’s still in the vial. It’s either sterilize it, or throw it in the trash. I’d like to save the couple bucks if I can.

If you take the stopper out yes, but I'm assuming that's not an option. So no, you also may have filter particles in there that you can't see. Don't chance it
