Nice bull brother! one week ago, was that a muzzle loader bull? I archery hunt for elk and round here season ends end of September. Muzzle loader season next (not sure exactly of dates but bulls are still usually in rut), then rifle season starts mid November.

Thanks bro! Naw, rifle hunt. Archery runs for five weeks, ending at the end of September, with muzzle loading in the middle of Sep for 9 days. Rifle gets going mid October, and the four different seasons go through mid/end November. I'm going to start archery hunting next year for sure, that way I can hunt the rut.

Here's a better pic of this years archery bull. Called this bull into 30 yards.

About an hour before dark I Dropped Into a spot I had been seeing bulls all year, set up, made a few cow calls, and here he came. Came in hot, not bugling but not quiet either. I drew back as soon as I knew he was really close. He stopped at a wallow about 35 yards from where I was standing, scraping his horns and slinging mud for a couple minutes. I waited patiently While still at full draw and my pin on his body. He Stepped out to 30 yards quartered towards me and I let it fly. Perfect double lung shot. He turned, ran down the draw and I could hear him gasping for air. Dropped about 50 yards from where he was when I shot.

He was only about 1/2 mile down off the road so I went back to camp to get my Dad. We quartered him and packed him out that night. Finished about 12am. Hunted like hell the rest of season to try and get my Dad into one but it just didn't come together. Can wait until next September!

There is absolutely nothing better than hunting elk in the rut! When it's on it's crazy. Last years bull I killed at 10 yards as he came in running and screaming to my calls! Absolutely amazing. A bull bugling is the sweetest sound in the world.

No doubt! I took my wife out muzzleloading for three seasons, during rut. We had bugling bulls all over the place. She never pulled the trigger, but we were thick into them. Can't wait for archery season next year. I'll end up hunting like a mad-man, but will have to force feed myself in order to not lose my hard earned gains. Heck, I lost 5 lbs in 7 days of rifle hunting, and I don't have any extra to lose as it is!

Haha, yup that's a problem for me too!! I drop weight quick during bow season. I think it's inevitable. I take the whole month off from lifting because I am usually at elk camp for two weeks of the season and hunting after work too. I usually cruise during season but this time I kept the test at 500mg/wk. helped a little bit but no matter what if you are not lifting you flatten out quick. I dropped from 203 to 188 this season. 12-15 mountain miles per day and living off granola bars, pb&j's, and trail mix just doesn't cut it! I'm already back up though, 208 yesterday!

Damn you bastards got me jealous on the elk hunting :( I got elk in my state just not where I live and its drawed hunt only. Lots of whitetails though.

Soooooo
Cool story. Last night i got down to my local Ford dealer for the advertised 2016 closeouts. Looking to pickup a spanking new f250 or hopefully f350 6.7 Diesel preferably fx4. Or at the least look see what they had and test drive some models. More or less? Truck porn for a bonified goon like myself:D

The 2017 models just arrived. So new that only 12 are currently registered in the state of TX. Test drove a '17 F350 Platinum with every fucking conveivable option and i am not here to joke...these options are as endless and innovative as the day is long. The truck sports 440 HP & 925 lb ft tq:eek: and gets roughly 22mpg:eek: in my part of town. I was all game to put down on it till i found out what it was gonna cost...

$97,000!!!

W....T....F?!?!

I walked away with my head held in shame:(

I had an f250 diesel as last vehicle... I liked it and miss it from time to time but now that I've gone to gasoline, I'll never go back to diesel.
