For The Conservatives..

Well, Bush won. I hope you are feeling better. However, soon the high will be over and reality will set in...

With the President, the House and the Senate so overwhelmingly Republican now, Bush has a tremendous opportunity to make his presidency go down in history...

We will see if Bush can take this opportunity he has, and use it effectively. He would be seen as the next Ronald Reagan if he actually works toward the conservative ideals...

We will see in the next four years, but just think of all the changes he could make. Changes that would mean a brighter future...

1. He could WIN the war on Terror. (Just as Reagan won the Cold War)
2. He could cut spending, cut taxes and give money back to the people
3. He could reform over-funded and under-performing social programs.
4. He could insure a better social security system. (Privitize, anyone?)
5. He could give back gun owner's rights that Clinton peeled away.
6. He could make our education system better, making sure even the lower-classes get an education to be proud of.
7. He could become one of the best uniters in history, if he picks his battles.
8. He could expand the rights of all citizens, by not renewing Patriot Act 2.

George W. Bush has a tremendous opportunity to show the nation that good, simple, conservative beliefs BENEFIT all Americans, not just the rich.

The next 4 years is very important to the conservative (Republican/Libertarian/Constitutional) parties. Bush could show the nation that conservative is NOT a bad word. However, if he messes this up, we will see some of the most radical liberals in history take office (Hillary, 2008).

The future is in his hands, we will see what he can do.

I can't believe what I just read, is it truly your wish list? Are you representative of those who voted for Bush? If most americans think like that, they truly live in a bubble, and I can just predict that the rest of the world will hate you more and more(if that's possible), and it is sad considering all the good that came from this country, oh but I forgot, nowadays you don't care what the other thinks, your the best country in the world and you don't need permission to go fuck the whole planet.

Win the war on terror? Tell me how? He will nuke the middle-east? Cut spending and cut taxes and give money back to the people? HELLO: You are in debt like you never were in a long long time, and what's funny is that 40% of your debt is hold by strangers.

And beeing the best uniter in history, do you really see diplomacy as one of his skills? Sorry but how could he do that? I think a chimp would be better at world diplomacy that this clown.

Yes, the future is in his hands, and I am afraid for this future.

No where in this post is there even a counter to mine. It just Bush flames and rhetoric. You think that cuts it as a rebuttal?

How could he win the war on terror. Easily... Stop playing patty-cake with the Iraqis, ensure a free election, and let the Iraqis take over as a soverign nation. We struggled to create Israel after WWII, and it took some soldiers dying, but look at it now. It is one of the only democratic nations in the area (and by far the most successful).

Getting out of debt is easy. If he cuts spending, and gives a little tax-cut (to boost the economy), we could easily begin to pay off our debts.

I dont understand how you even protest to my post. Are you protesting improving education, social-security and social programs?

I dont even understand what you are saying...it doesnt make sense...

As far as being a uniter, GWB was one of the most loved governors in Texas history. He was also one of the most successful.

When I said a uniter, I meant uniting the American people, not the world. No offense, but I don't (nor should I) really care about what other countries think or say. Americans run America. You dont see me making posts about how Canada should change their policies, do you? Why? Because Canadians run Canada, and I am not Canadian.

When are we going to get the edit function back?

I fixed your post for you. It seems to be linked to the techies working on our database. I've been told it should be fixed within the next few days. Some people can edit and others can't, not sure why.

I guess our Canadian friend would like it better if you substituted "does not" for "could"... during the next 4 years?

Thanks man.

I bet he would like it. I dont know why some Canadians hate Bush so much. What did America do to Canada that got them so upset. If it werent the United States being their neighbor, their economy would still be dominated by logging and the fur trade...

J/K about the economy part. But seriously, why does Bush piss you Canadians off so much? What did we ever do to you?

It's interesting that you are asking this question. I guess it's one of those love-hate relationship. I'll try to explain my perspective later, right now, got to go to work.

Besides our commercial different over mad cow disease and lumber, I guess it all comes down to Irak. We always were allied with the US, we were part of the coalition in the first gulf war, and I think most people here agreed that Saddam was the agressor and had to be put back in his place.

Most canadians believe that the United Nations are the way to go, when Hanz Blixx said that his teams in Irak didn't find any weapons of mass destruction, we believed it, so did France, Germany, Russia, and most countries. Bush wanted to go in Irak anyway, despite a lacking resolution to go there. I won't come back on the course of the events, everybody knows it, but that's what triggered this feeling we have towards your president(most of us).

We now kind of see the USA as the agressor, and Bush as the one that opened the box of Pandora, and who knows now what evil will come out of it. I know America should be run by americans, and you say that like your president, you don't really care what other countries think about you, but don't worry, we are quite aware of this, another exemple: You disperse in the atmosphere 25% to 30% of the gaz responsible for the green house effect, yet you don't want to sign the Kyoto protocol(I know that Kerry said he would not sign it either).

I could talk about this relationship between Bush and the christian fondamentalists that we can't believe or understand and that worries us a little, but not now, it would be too long ;) .

I respect your opinion and appreciate you posting your viewpoints here for all of us to see.

As far as Iraq goes though: French, Russian, German, US, Australian intelligence all supported the claim that Saddam did in fact have WMD's.

As far as the UN is concerned, most Americans view the UN as an international figure head.....they have no real power. They refuse to take action on Iran, N. Korea, and Sudan. The UN criticizes the US every step of the way, but they do nothing to help the situation.

Also, the US is contributes more money, equipment, and supplies to the UN than any 2 countries combined.

Americans are also very cynical about the UN after the "oil for food" scandal broke....whcih showed that high ranking UN officials were literally paid off by Saddam. The Duelffer report and the Oil For Food investigations have shown that countries like France and Russia were being bribed by Saddam to vote against the renewal of UN sanctions, which did not work to begin with. Saddam was still able to amass illegal rockets and explosives.

How can Americans, after being attacked on 9/11, put our security in the hands of an organization who does not have our best interests in mind????

So after all you still think Saddam had WMD's? And you believe Bush went in Irak because of 9/11? I'm quite aware of US contributions to the UN, you also created it. UN doesn't have any say in the US protecting itself, it just thought that Saddam and 9/11 were not related, wich was made clear by your senate inquiries.

Another issue is that Americans dont like the idea of being told what to do by the United Nations, and I believe rightfully so. I dont want French, Germans or any other country getting to decide what happens inside America. Hell, the UN even wants foreign leaders to be able to control US forces. I mean, WTF?!?! Anywho...

That is our problem with the UN. I dont want to tell French people how to run France, and I dont want French people to tell us how to run America.

I dont want America putting decisions into people's hands when those people dont put America's interest first...

To be honest with you, you will never convince me that Saddam disbanded his weapons programs. He has defied the UN for 12 years, threw out their inspectors on several occasions, and has not cooperated one bit. Why all of a sudden would he just say "you know what guys, the UN is right, we don't need nukes".?????

I'm sorry I don't believe that for one minute. I'd bet my life they are in Syria.

This is the fundamental difference between the US and countries like Canada: You guys trust the UN (even after the oil for food debacle), and we don't!!!

Hell, the UN has people lobbying in Congress to get rid of our guns just because they dont' like them. The UN wanted to place poll watchers in out voting precincts to make sure our elections were fair!!!

The US has zero reason to trust and/or respect the UN. They are a corrupt organization run by crooks.

Kayz, we might never convince you, but you must admit the evidence points toward no WMD. The UN is weak, however it is not a reason to toss it out. Having strong diplomatic ties goes a long way, it is economically and militarily wise. Yes, the U.S. has always been the work force for the U.N. however, if we alienate ourselves, it will be toward our disadvantage~Sensational

1. He could WIN the war on Terror. (Just as Reagan won the Cold War)

Good analogy, but Bush is not doing it. Terrorism feeds off of aggression, and that is what Bush is preaching. Bush's pre-emptive unilateral aggression is producing more terrorists.

I believe intelligence reform(which he is trying to do), and focusing on the real enemy (al queda) and not Iraq is key.

2. He could cut spending, cut taxes and give money back to the people

Track record shows that he will not cut spending. He has not cut spending at all. He was handed a budget surplus and created a deficit, and now our children and us will have to pay off the bonds for years to come. He needs to improve in this area.

3. He could reform over-funded and under-performing social programs.

I sure hope so. But remember the little person that benefits from these programs too...

4. He could insure a better social security system. (Privitize, anyone?)

Privatization creates its own problems with a better chance for corruption because of less bereaucratic oversight.

5. He could give back gun owner's rights that Clinton peeled away.

Would you want to break into a house face to face with an AK-47? I sure wouldn't, however I agree it should be a right....to an extent.

6. He could make our education system better, making sure even the lower-classes get an education to be proud of.

Simply put, it will never happen. Teachers want to teach the more wealthy, and better teachers will be available to the wealthy. There will always be a caste system in the United States. However, he needs to lower education costs...and also make pharmaceutical companies more accountable for their price gauging.

7. He could become one of the best uniters in history, if he picks his battles.

This is true of anyone. I don't see W doing it though.

8. He could expand the rights of all citizens, by not renewing Patriot Act 2.

Not with John Ashcroft at the helm!

The future is in his hands, hopefully, he will do right!

I understand what you are saying, but respectfully disagree. Can you explain to me how the UN has our best interests in mind and benefits us??

Chirac and Schroeder hate the US and have for some time. We took Saddam out and they lost billions. Putin did hate us until the school massacre in Russia; nowadays, he's seeing things from our vantage point a little more.

Chirac made a point to go to a Paris hospital and visit with Arafat, arguably the single biggest obstruction to a stable region. However, Chirac made it a point to leave Paris early and he refused to me with Iraqi PM Allawi just to spite Bush's victory on Tuesday.

The UN has no power and IMO their "alliances" are a joke. The US has always been the workhorse, which is fine because we have to. And the UN undermines the US every chance it gets.

The UN does not and will not make us safer here in the states because they are a crooked organization from the top (annan is a crook and so is his son) down.

How the fuck did the mythical "green house effect" become an issue. It's plain as day for anyone who wishes to pick up a historical/geological text that warming and cooling of the earth is a natural phenomenon that has happened numerous times and will happen numerous more times.
