For those with Tattoos...

I am thinking about getting one between my shoulder blades, and a tad bit down. It is in a place where it would only be seen with my shirt off, so I could wear anything and it would never show. My question is, do you regret any of them and would you recommend it to others?

P.S. Here is a pic of the tattoo I want to get. (well, I want to have a custom tattoo made from it) I have the necklace too and I wear it at all times. The tattoo will be a little bit small than a DVD Case. I might or might not get the outside of the shield tattooed, just the eagle. What do you guys think?

thats pretty cool . i have five tats and the only one i dont like and iam going to get it coverd up is the first one i got when i was 16. and that was the most painfull one out of them all (its on my shoulder blade). best advice would be to shop around look for high quality work that last long. most of the shit you see in albums are new pictures of the tat. so try and find people who have tatoos from some one that are older and look at them. and always try and get a price before you get one done i dont like places that make you pay by the hour. and one more thing once you get one done you will want another one than another one than another one so be readdy at least thats how i was.

I came in this world buck ass naked and I will leave it that way.

I have a pretty good size one on my back. It is the only tat I have and I can say that there have been days that I regret getting it done and times when I am glad I did. You have that symbol as your avatar and you wear it around your neck so I highly doubt that you are going to regret it. It obviously has a good deal of significance to you so go for it, just make sure you go to a reputable artist. The higher cost will be more than worth it.

I don't have any tatoos but always toyed with the idea of getting one, there's always the thought that I will regret it but I suppose I could have it removed, and then sometimes I think I like my body just the way it is and a tatoo would be defacing my figure. Tough decision, one huge factor though, I don't have anything of significance to get tatooed, maybe you do? Curious, what does your emblem represent?

Mark I always assumed your avatar was a family crest or some sort of visual symbol of identity..?? If so I think it would look pretty cool. I never had any ink done when I was younger, so I made a pact w/ myself that I wouldn't start now. But if I ever did, I'd probably do something like a family crest or something that symbolizes identity as well.

I personally don't regret any of my tatoos but I though about them for a long time before I made a decision and like you said put them in places where I could still be professional in those areas of my life. It sounds like you are thinking about it and we all have that friend who didn't give it much thought and now has a picture of the Tazmanian Devil doing shoulder presses on there bicep. You seem somewhat ambivilent, and it really is a long term decision so you can always put it off until you are sure.

Just remember, its permanent. Only you can decide if you really want it. I have known people to get tatts in the spur of the moment, or in their youth and live to regret it. Let us know what you dedice.

peace

Dude the back hurts like hell, i have 26 tattoos and none of them hurt like the back. I was pissed the whole time while i was getting them, I have 5 on my back. If u have a big back get ready cause here comes plain, and the shoulders omg forget about it.

actually i have a huge dragon over my entire back and it mostly just had a burning feeling....except across the spine....that made me jump because i was not expecting it to hurt that bad......the belly scales fade from gray to black and the long tail goes all the way down my lower back and it hurt like a motherfucker......i just had some work done on my forearm this week and it didn't hurt at all but my wife had a small dragon done on her upper back about 6" in size and i thought she was going to start crying......i did laugh though.

I have most of my back done, some lettering and a pic of one of my snakes. The snake took around 23 hours to complete and cost me over 3 grand,, but was well worth it, and like you said, I would only get tattood in an area where a t shirt could cover it, otherwise when it comes time to look profesional you may not be taken seriously. And make sure there is some signifigance in your tatt, that no matter how old you are it will remind you of something that was important. For me both of mine are personal and for that I know I will not regret them.
Thank you

Mark, is your avatar a family crest? I too have always assumed that it was. If not, what is it?

Personally, I would never get a tattoo. I ask myself self what can adequately represent Rod? Self answers, "Nothing, Rod is much too much to be adequately summarized by one picture". Plus when you get old they look ridiculous.

mark,

I think as long as you get something that has meaning to you personally, you won't regret it. Many people get something trendy, a few years down the road its not cool anymore, then they regret it (i.e. the old heart and dagger lol). Seeing that the one you want is a crest, I don't see you having much regret.

i have a few, and id highly suggest you get a subscription to tattoo and flash magazines. or go out and buy a few issues. you should be able to find an artist near you thats damned good, i know i did where im at. like 5 as a matter of fact.
